A while back I did some research into the dragon legends of the world, and I found an interesting African deity.  The creation goddess of this particular myth had a partner, a massive snake which (depending on the version of the legend) either lived underneath the surface of the earth, or lived under the earth and held it up.  The movements of this snake caused earthquakes, it's breath volcanos, etc.  I did git this particular legend from a "second hand" source, so I apologise for any inconsistencies.

the snake’s haid seems pretty cool but the body would need more work 2

:-) Heather Alycia LaPeer replies: "with what? angle, length?"

basic anatomy and patern on scales 2, the third ring really makes it look like the snake is inside a bowl or something 16

:-) Heather Alycia LaPeer replies: "like you think the rings should be wider? I have seen my friend’s snake coil like this before, but I could see how making the rings larger might change the image. and I don’t intend to draw in all the scale patterns, I just wanted to give the impression of scales, so if you know snakes as i do to some extent, you know that those scales are unlikely 2 but as I said, I didn’t mean to have them be detailed like real life."

the impression of scales must be more accentuated if you want it... i see that the scaale marks are in majority in the black or pattern place...which makes them hard to view... draw some more on the white parts to 2. His ring shadings could be improved or actually added... but i’ll be sincere the pattern, those squares thingyies well they seem TOO irregular and more like someone painted them one 16 and had a hard time dooing so 16. Ya the rings would be better off bigger and the last ring, misses the lines that indicates that it’s on the second ring... from this point of view it looks like the only clue that the snake is coiled up is just on the outside. The border of the outside ring is too sharp you put to much strength on that last line 16 and that really gives the bowl impression... maybe you can give up on that line and show the ring’s shape using shadows 2
