This was inspired by a creature called a mriswith in the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. I decided to draw what I thought it's face looked like. Despite much controversy, I still believe they don't have a longer snout...but what do you think? And incase you have never read any books by Terry Goodkind, mriswith are scaled human-like creatures who have a cloak that can make them invisible. They also have unusual three bladed knives, known as yabrees, where the blades are from in-between their fingers unlike a regular knife so when they clench their fist it appears like they have claws. They use these three bladed knives to gut their victims while they remain invisible.

Hmmm, it's interesting. I always pictured them to have more of a lizardlike face. Yanno, a longer snout. But I don't exactly remember how Goodkind described them. 4

This is EXACTLY what I thought a mriswith would look like. And it seems that other people didnt think it was finished but he's wearing the cloak of camoflague, right? I pesonally love this series and can't WAIT 'till he comes out with the next one!!!

I *also* RP a Mriswith in an online RPG...this is CLOSE to what I pictured one as...and it's Very nice...but I agree with whoever it was above that said "protruding snout"...it just seems more....Mriswithy that way... =D

I am interested in what the yabree would look like; as well as the cape. The animal pelts that are constantly referred to would not be a bad idea either. I am looking forward to further artwork. Also, I don´t believe that the yabree are knives in the conventional sense; but that they are more like the knives used in certain Arabic nations

:-) Kenneth D. Nadack replies: "I have a idea of the yabree which I will draw sometime, but the cape is just your average everyday "makes you invisible" cape ^_^ Since I don't do backgrounds too well yet, I can't show anyone the cool picture I have in my head for something like that...yet"

I just finished the Sword of Truth series, and have done a couple of sketches myself, including the Hrulgin. (The carnivorous horse that had a bit part in the first book). I never pictured the mriswith having longer snouts... I pictured them a lot more like this in my head. ^_~ You should do a full-body pic with the cloak and yabree.

:-) Kenneth D. Nadack replies: "Thanks for the comment, and I do have plans on drawing a full mriswith in the future. And this is how they are described in the book....since they are made from humans they wouldn't have a snout ^_^ See, I'm not going crazy =D"

Nice pic! I am all for the no-snout thing since they are former wizards...(explained in the 2nd or 3rd book)I would definately like to see a full-bodied one!

Weren't hrulgin in the belgariad series, not the sword of truth? Correct me if i'm wrong but i can't remember them being in there.

:-) Kenneth D. Nadack replies: "hrulgin? belgariad??? This is a mriswith, from Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series!"
