Bio:
What's up, everyone?! Let me start by introducing myself. My name's Christine, but my friends call me Spike. I've graduated from my last year of high school (2004) and I'm gonna be taking a year off before I go to college, so that maybe by the end of it I'll have enough money to pay for it and know what my goals are going to be. In November 2004, I'm definitely gonna take part yet again in NaNoWriMo, because that's how The Grey got started, and I'm not done with it yet! And when the time comes, I'd love to get in touch with people who are thinking of taking on this massive project. We'll give each other pep talks and discuss stuff.
I've never wondered how I came to acquire the taste to write and read on a massive scale...but I guess I can owe it to my father, for telling me and my siblings stories before we went off to bed and to my mom who would occasionally read us stories. And also to my friends, Christie Lovat, Sasha Lawson and Lindsay Burkart for in their own ways, they were the spark that ignited my passion to read and write, and partake in such a fun hobby. I was never a bookworm before I met Christie and Sasha. I've got over 120 books in my mini-library now and I'm very proud of that.
Christie wrote novels before I met her, (not that she doesn't anymore) and that seemed like an awesome project to partake in. Her most recent writing project is Wolfbrothers. It's an awesome tale, with all sorts of mythical creatures and lovable characters.
Years ago, I tried to write a novel, and at the same time, my friend Lindsay got interested as well, and we both wrote novels; reading each other's work and falling into our own little worlds. We used to write whenever we had time and that was mainly on the hour-long bus rides to and from high school. Mine, I felt, was utter crap and that I could write much better, so I tossed it out, but Linds kept hers. ;)
I tried again a year after, and it became a co-novel between me and Christie. We wrote during whenever we could during class, picking up where the other left off. It was great fun! And we still have it! It's over in her library! It's called The Second GateWar.
After that, I just wrote short stories because it seemed easier I guess, without having to worry about too much detail, a lot of characters, or too big a plot. So, I wrote short tales.
But then, I got motivated anew to start another novel. It was started in November 2003 (I didn't know about NaNoWriMo then, or I think I would have finished it!) and I still have it on a disquette in my room. It's called Snow and Ashes and the sample chapter of Snow and Ashes is here!.
The most recent and frequently worked at novel of mine is called The Grey and sadly, I have pulled the prologue and the first chapter from the library, because I felt that it needed major sprucing up! (Psst, it was crap!) The whole thing is being redone, so it's back to the Dark Ages with it. I know that when I finish The Grey, I'll probably tackle Snow and Ashes.
