"Iliu and Ktuvok" by Daniel D. Copeland (the Naked Celt)

Almea and its inhabitants are the creations of Mark Rosenfelder. Ilii are ocean-dwellers, peaceful unless attacked, and generally wise, tolerant beings. Ktuvoki are aggressive swamp trolls with tentacles growing out of their heads, whose most sinister power is a form of mind control over other species — but not, it appears, over the ilii.

I have used Mark Rosenfelder’s descriptions in drawing the two species, but my real guide was his own illustrations: in giving the ktuvok only four fingers on each hand, for instance, or in drawing the iliu with eyebrows, contrary to the written description that “they have no body or facial hair”. I must find a faster way to draw in perspective, and I don’t think I’ve conveyed the shininess of iliu skin the way I wanted to. Plus, I really should have given this a background.
