A faerie awakens for the first time in the deep of the forest.

Faerie Birth

in the cool green light of morn

a faerie awakens

her wings still damp and untried

in the depths of the virgin forest

a faerie awakens

greeted quietly by her sisters

in the boughs of the old gnarled tree

a faerie awakens

her birth witnessed by her peers

in the shelter of the secret bower

a faerie awakens

bringing new joy to the world

14 Jan 2003	Matthew J. Deagle	Loading... Ahh... Very well done--beautiful actually. It slightly reminds me (not sure why) of 'The Stolen Child', even though it doesn't have anything to do with it--just the same sort of faerie-ish feeling, I suppose--even though this clearly is a bit more happp than 'The Stolen Child'. I really don't have much criticism on this--I'm not much of a poet anyway--mostly just a writer in the short story and novel forms. I don't know, maybe I'll return later and notice something I don't like. Oh yes, and by the way, I had to ask, is the lack of punctuation in the line of e e cummings or was it merely your own idea? Kat (wiccanmaiden) Napthine replies: "I like to try different styles, for atmosphere, seemed apropriate to be quiet at the time of her birth..."
