Well, what a rubbish title. Well, you get the gist of the whole image by looking at the title. This was a piece for university intended as a book jacket for a H.G. Wells book. I decided to do a cover which had all three of the main characters, also a scene of suspense. The only light for the time traveller and the Eloi's safety is from that single match. Anyone who haven't read the Time Machine are probably thinking, 'hmm, doesn't look very time machine like, where is the time machine!?!?' But the book, alot of the time does not contain the actual machine as the Morlocks steal it, so the Time traveller goes looking for it... and takes little Weena for company. This was illustrated using coloured pencils and was started and finished in February 2005; took 5 days to complete due to coloured pencils needing so much layering!! Hope you like it ;)

Another classic Nat, very brave using all that black, it really works a treat. I saw the time machine yesterday actually, that one with Mike outta "Neighbours" in it... I'm sure it's not as good as the book but at least I now know what you're on about... Great picture Nat, I'm sure this woulda got mods aswell, if you hadn't already got it... don't hog em all now!

1 Natalie Anne Harrison replies: "Can they give out two mods choices!?!? That would be greedy to have two in one day!! All for me and no-one else (He He) That would be really cool. Im glad you like my picture, I wasn't sure that this one would be accepted when waiting for it to be published, but It was and doesn't seem to have done too badly! Thanks for the lovely comment!"

Absolutely azaming. Great sense of position and light. The drapery is excellently done. Very emotional. Keep it up.

Another wonderful picture, Natalie. 2 Beautiful composition - I love the way that the figures are balanced by the oppressive darkness surrounding them. The expressions are absolutely perfect, and the lighting is masterful. I'm sure that this one would have been another Mods' choice, but they were reluctant to give two in one day. 2

12 Natalie Anne Harrison replies: "Thanks. I used my younger brother to pose with a match in the dark and took a picture of him to get the atmosphere right and the colours, I also used my young cousinto pose for Weena! Thanks for the lovely comment Norma"

Bliemy it just keeps on getting better coloured pencils this time is there nothing you cant use? Good use of lighting here the shadowing is been really well the evil eyes stalking him every step of the way. I like the one at the bottom giving you a hint of the nightmare that follows him. Out of everything in the picture i do love the way you coloured his shirt really adding to the light.

1 Natalie Anne Harrison replies: "Well... I can't use gouache for some reason, I can't use computers to do arty things on and I can't make anything 3D (like clay stuff) or collage as it always either falls apart or comes out looking like a mushy mess. I'm glad you like the Morlocks, my tutors at uni said they looked weird in the background... my tutors don't seem to like much of what I do (scratches head and wonders why!?) Ho-Hum. Thanks for the great comment, glad you like it!! Pop by again anytime!!"

Somebody please explain me why this isn't a Mod's Choice? Holy crap this is beautiful! I wish I could draw like this.
*leaves with a jealous face muttering something about moderators*

3 Natalie Anne Harrison replies: "everryone has mentioned about this picture as being mods choice. Unfortunatly at the time my Beren and Luthien picture was uploaded at the same time and that was chosen as Mods choice instead. I'm glad you like it. I'm quite busy latley and I'm sorry this has been replied to late. Thankyou for the lovely comment, and I'll try and go round to your gallery when I have time. Thanks!"

I am impressed and there's almost nothing else to say that you haven't already heard. But yes do keep drawing please, I find not only this one but the Tolkien and mermaid pieces quite inspiring.

13 Natalie Anne Harrison replies: "Thank you I'm gad you like them, pop by again when I have more images up!"

Trapped in time, surrounded by Morlocks, low on matches! You’ve captured the moment. You have committed art. Lovely. "The Time Machine" is a perennial favourite: the visions are cosmic, the satire mordant. The movies are more or less rubbish, though: the Rod Taylor one less, the Jeremy Irons (!) one more. Anyway. Can we have some Martians now? or Moreau’s Beast People? The Hyena-Swine especially would be nice.
