From the perspective of a very cynical fairy tale character. I'm sure you'll be able to figure out who. The third in the series.

So he kissed me.

So what?

When most men kiss, girls

sigh dreamily and fall into

waiting open arms.

A magical response enough,

I should think.

But when he kissed me,

instead of sighing dreamily, I

woke up.

Imagine that.

A sleep of a hundred years, and

he kisses me, and

just like that, I

wake up.

He was disappointed, I think.

He expected the usual

response, but

my eyes had been closed too long

to close them again to

fall into his arms.

I’d never seen the man before

I opened my eyes to find him

gazing down expectantly at me.

And now he wants my

hand in marriage.

Whatver makes him deserving?

I ask.

But he kissed me!

He protests, as if

I am not immune to the

magic of his kiss, given a

natural immunity by my

years of magical sleep.

So he kissed me.

So what?

That's fantastic! You have a real flare for poetry, so unusual to see such creative, non-self-indulgent (lol, bit of a clumsy expression!) work these days. Please keep it up!

Thanks for your comments in my gallery. I do like your poems. I have a book of alternative fairy tales - you know where Little Red Riding Hood knows karate and sends the wolf packing. GOOD STUFF. However I'm still a bit of a romantic - Hard to be in today's world, but easy in a fantasy world!!!

yay! I love it! I've thought the same thing before, so he kisses her...he comes into her bedroom in the middle of her sleep and kisses her without even asking..a little creepy if you ask me, I wouldn't be all gung-ho to go marry the guy either! very witty...great work all around, I'm terrible and only comment on a few pieces, but I love all your stuff so far!

Great. A cynic's perspective in fairy tales is exactly what we now need; seeing as we've accepted these stories for centuries. I love them, but, if they're to have meaning to us in this day and age, we should really look at them from a skeptical view. I loved the repetition and I enjoyed this poem.

lol. Excellent. You should read Rapunztiltskin by Liz Lochhead.
Well done.
