This was my entry for Adele Lorienne Sesslers contest, a while ago... I forgot to upload it here ^^;

I had to made the pic quite small... you can find a bigger version here

It's a pic from Kelly's story, which you can read here :) Here in the pic you can see the vampire Julian, with on the foreground the hand and shadow of the werewolf Kris.

Ofcourse I didn't win anything, but I thought I really needed to practise on my drawing-with-description-skills, because... well, I don't think I have any yet ^^; And I still need to draw a request for someone which I really, reaally want to do good...

About the pic;
Why on earth I drew a guy sitting, with so many hands and feet and, well, everything I really really really really HATE to draw, I still don't get -_- Must have been a temporary breakdown of my brains...
Next time I'm just putting trees in front of them.

As always I'm not happy with the result, and I wish I could have done it better... ah well, maybe next time :P

Critisism is very welcome!!

Well done! You did great work on this drawing, especially on the small details of the background and the shading.
One thing thought, is that the boys feet seems a bit out of the perspective but maybe it's only me...
Anyway, keep up the good work!

1 Nelleke Pieters replies: "No, they are 10 I had kept them blank untill the night before the contest's deadline, and then I HAD to draw them... and when they kept looking weird I just tried to cover them up with shading 10 I'm horrible with hands and feet...
Thank you very much for the comment!!"

Heyy Nelleke!!
haha zag deze tekening nu pas xD beetje late reactie dus x) 10
I really love all the details you've put in this drawing 17 Must have taken you some time..?
And as always, your shading is perfect 12
I love it 1
Byee!

Thank you very much for the sweet comment!! Are you gonna upload something new soon?"

I love your attention to background detail. All the individual books on that shelf, the picture on the wall. The candle even looks like it is glowing.

The only critique I have is that you should not have cut off the picture on the wall. That makes is look incomplete.

If it was because your scanner did not have enough room for the whole drawing you could take a photo of it and crop off the parts not related to the picture. That would be better than the scanner clipping off parts of your art.

:-) Nelleke Pieters replies: "*late late late late a usual.. kind of forgot about Elfwood 0.o*

Oh no, the portrait was just something to fill the background, so I didn’t want to draw attention too it... and there just wasn’t any room 12

Thank you very much for the comment!! I was wondering... do you have a deviantart account?"

Absolutely love your attention to detail in this. Since you ask for criticism, hope some of the following is useful:

The perspective seems a little off, the figure does not seem to be in the same place as his furniture. Did you use a vanishing point? if not, that might help next time. If you did, something’s wrong with my eyes 12

As you said yourself, feet and hands seem to be a little off. They’re really not bad, but with hands and feet even one line in the wrong place makes the whole look a little weird. His left feet (our right) seems to be squashed against the floor, the nose of the shoe is not big enough, so the foot looks 2d. His other foot is good, except that the nose of that shoe should be rounder, to mirror the shape of the foot. The heel of that shoe is flawless, by the way, which I never manage 2.

Love the unconventional viewpoint you used. It’s just such an interesting drawing, because of the way you placed things.

:-) Nelleke Pieters replies: "The table-thingy next to the guy is so crooked that it looks like it’ll fall 12 I did use a vanishing point, but I think I was having problems with straight lines.

And the anatomy just sucks... but I’m improving! My newer pics are slightly better anatomy-wise ^^

Thank you very much for the comment and for the advice!! And I’m very sorry for the late reply, I kind of forgot about elfwood 16"

if you look at the thumbnail, the arm of the chair looks like a skull! Creepy...
The angle of the hand is off, but the shading is remarkable!

:-) Nelleke Pieters replies: "Hahaha, I really hadn’t noticed that! ^^

The whole hand is off... so many mistakes in one pic -_-"

I think you are so very awesome with being so very modest about your art. Try not to be too hard on yourself with the outcome of your drawings. You are very good at it and the shadowing and detail is very impressive. I love how your pictures all depict a story, just like Norman Rockwell. This is my most favorite of your drawings. Awesome work!

:-) Nelleke Pieters replies: "Well, I don’t think I’m modest... and I don’t think I’m being too hard either 12 It’s my honost opinion about my pics. The mistakes help me to improve, and not liking things about previous drawing is a great stimilation to try harder next time 1

Thank you veeery much for your sweet comment!! And I’m really sorry for the late reply, I forgot about Elfwood 16"

This one is very nice too Nelleke, I am very very much in awe of the library behind him. It’s looks fantastic!

:-) Nelleke Pieters replies: "I so want a huge library when (of course I will) I’ll win a million euro 1

Thank you very much for the comment!! ^^"

Very good pic. The shading indicates really patient work which I admire. I wish I could shade like this. 7
