22.03.03 This is a new character I've made for a character development project at college... I'll be animating her for the next 6 weeks or so :] YES THAT'S RIGHT, Ash is a FEMALE!!!- Please note; this is only my second attempt at using the software, it's rather different to what I'm used to!
coloured in photoshop (by way of a change)

Ash is soooooo cool! A powerful female figure. I can't wait to see her kicking some big strong muscley guy's butt!

You sound pretty defensive about that new program 10 Its not like you've got to justify some hideous piece of artwork, lol. She has some very clearly female attributes, but at first glance I couldnt tell what she was... quite an androgynous looking character, so im guessing there would be subtle hints of her gender in the way she moves, no? Then again, the voice may give it away.. but from demi-human eyes to creatures of other species... its not like a first glance ever unveils -too- much 12 Again, good solid coolness! well I guess I get annoyed at the stereotypical gender views you see about most illustrators, a woman isn't concidered female unless she has huge breasts long hair and eyelashes etc... - I don't want her to be obviously femanim though, due to the nature of her being a warrior \:]

..I suppose after having said that, the female role in -human- society has been stereotyped into the less physical tasks.. though if my dwindling little flicker of knowledge serves me well, females have always made the most viscious and effective hunters and protectors. Either way, you're right.. if all female characters were voluptuous uber-idols.. then wouldnt drawing even a simple animal have rather disturbing effects? *laughs a little* Im still a long way off from being able to draw such an androgynous female as Ash, making someone appear female but in very subtle ways is incredibly hard to do...
