"The Knights Story" by Nicklas Lundqvist

Another attempt at a poem. Perhaps not quite as good as the previous one, but I got inspired by all your kind words.

As morning light suppress the dark,
Brings warmth upon my face.
Our foes steps out in endless rows,
They greet us with a gaze.

Across the fields and past the well,
They scurry, jump and crawl.
Our swords are drawn, awaiting hell,
We can not count them all.

Though in a group, I stand alone,
Our enemies make ground.
As orchs and goblins, growl and moan,
I hear their fearful sound.

Then arrows hit us from the sky,
My comrades start to fall.
We raise our shields, let out a cry,
And charge them, giving all.

To beating drums and sounds of war,
The land gets soaked in blood.
As monsters fall, they'll be no more,
Then corpses in the mud.

This final stand, will always be,
The thing I see at night.
Those friends we lost, they set us free,
Then went into the light.
