Another, slightly older illustration of Iymashae Morath. This was my first oil painting since college (6 years ago). I'm afraid the background might be a little big for the figure, and I can't say much for the skin texture, but I'm quite happy with how her amethyst chainmail came out.

This is very beautiful it is like she has just emerged from the shadows to strike. very lovely colors

:-) Catherine Noble Beyer replies: "Yippee! Someone gets it! I showed it around at GenCon and one of the Art Directors complained "it's too dark. You can't see her back leg." Thank you!"

I like the colors. The colors discribe many fellings.

I like the darkness of this pic, and the size of the background in relation to her is fine, because it makes it look as if she is in some vast chamber in the underdark. It looks great to me, I wouldn't change a thing! It isn't just her one leg that seems to be melting out of the shadows and into view, the technique you used does the same thing on her cloak too. Excellent work, I love your gallery!!!

I know how you feel, I have made a number of dark pictures and often times people will complain about it. Art teachers often teach that you should always have the light sources coming from the viewer, and I usually like putting it on the other side. I think that it helps create a certain mood.
