Hello fantasy lovers~ Welcome to my little tree!

I'm Monika, alternately known as Nikhera, and both Nika for short. I'm currently living in London of the United Provinces of Canadian, although I've been known to be tossed around like a dirty do-rag.

I came to Canada when I was 11, from Slovakia, known as the heart of Europe. (Ehehehe, Slovawhat? And no, it's not like in Hostel, you silly dummy you.) I've switched places couple of times, always throughout Ontario, and I've been here for a couple of years. 'S nice.

Art is something I am passionate about, simply because it a convenient form of self-expression for me. I've been drawing "seriously" since May 2003, when I was pulled into the world of RPing by some online friends. (And few months prior to that, to introduced to Elfwood.)

Since I do like the limitations real life tends to throw at you, fantasy is my genre of choice...and since I used to be a bit of a Japanafeliac, the anime-ish style has stayed with me. I have been known to try and get away from it lately, but ultimately it's what pleases me the most. I realize that people tend to have issues with this, and there is alot of controversy as to whether anime is a legitimate art form, however, it does not bother me much. They are my hands, and they draw what I tell them to. (Okay, to a certain degree - they don't always listen well. =D)

My muse is fickle and I tend to get artist's block sometimes, but I can get inspired easily by things such as nature, other artists, and the people around me.

Speaking of people, I do have some nice friends. And speaking of nice, alot of good things have happened in my life, I suppose.

The best thing to ever come into my life, hands down, is my awesome boyfriend Jon. We've been together since October 2005, and still going. ^_^ He's done many great things for me, for which I am eternally grateful. He gives me confidence, stregth, hope and inspiration. A great deal of the art found around my galleries has been dedicated to him, drawn for him, or because of him. =) It's easy to be inspired by someone so wonderful! He's also a writer (and has provided me some nice stories to illustrate, yay ^_^) and is currently in college. :D I don't know where I would be without him. <3 I love you, smoochiepie.

Besides that, nothing motivates me more. I'm currenly in gr. 12 and studying hard. I've been able to maintain nice high averages (although it's a bit of a strain, here and there) and I'm hoping to land a scholarship of some kind. Ultimately, I want to be an optometrist, but I suppose art will always stay with me as a hobby and means to express myself and communicate my ideas with the world.

With that said, take a look-see around this gallery, and I hope you enjoy your stay.

18/03/04 - Tremendous spring cleaning. Out with the old, in with the new. The stuff looks better now than the older pictures I had here =^_^= more colour now. You'll see when the ticket goes through.

13/06/04: I have been neglecting this gallery for a while. There is tons of new art, and my style has changed as well. I now have artwork of all skill levels in here, so you can kinda see how I improved. :3 There will be no updates for the next two months, because I am going away to my homeload starting June 16th to August 31st. I'll have lotsa fun, and I promise to bring lotsa pictures, too. For an additional artwork you'd like to see, visit my 'Own Gallery'. Thanks to anyone who views this gallery or comments. 11/12/05:  Alot of time since passed since the last update! I promise I'll have alot more of the next update which I'll be doing as soon as possible! In the meantime, simply enjoy what you see and give my DeviantART gallery a peek (this is NOT a plug...I mean, you're already looking at my art aren't you?) if you wanna see more artwork by me that didn't necessarily make it onto here. ^_^

09/12/05: It's that time of year again.

I gave the gallery a major overhaul. I delete a good ammount of pictures that I disliked or I felt were really below par. Some I still do like, others I decided to get rid because there's not even a sentimental quality to them anymore. =D So in case you have concerns such as "Where did picture Blah Blah Blah go" just write a comment into this gallery and I shall point you in the right direction. (I'll prolly have it at DeviantART still.)

Besides that, I also put dates on the pictures so you have an idea as to when they were created. =3 This is so that you don't critique me on ancient pictures by accident. XD Also, so you can see if there is some progress that was made along the way, heh. =3

I added a great deal of old and new things, because I do not want my gallery to me empty...I simply missed not having certain images here. ^_^ So the art you see is from 2003/4 to the present!

With that said, enjoy the new additions I suppose, and don't hesitate to drop by and leave me a comment or two. Comments are nice. :)
