Title is Latin: Beautiful night, murderous love.
Here you can see my vampire character Triya. She's originally Roman, a senator's daughter, and was named Terentia, but she changed that later on. She was married at the age of 12 to a 40-year-old colleage of her father who abused her terribly. One day, she was 19 at the time , he went too far and when he left her she was so badly beaten she'd surely have been dead by his return if Rayne (= another vampire character of mine & one of the main characters in the story, you can see his picture somewhere else in my gallery) hadn't popped in, lured by the smell of blood and gave the young girl the chance to avenge herself by turning her into a vampire. She took the opportunity with both hands and has been one of Rayne's most loyal allies ever since. She makes it a sport to feed only on men who hit their wives and children, pimps, pedofiles, sort of all the worst people out there, hoping to shield others from a fate like her own. And as you can see in the picture, she knows perfectly how to get them to come near her. She's here shown in one of her numeruous apartments, she owns lots and lots of these in all sorts of major cities around the world since hunting is most easy where there's lots of people, teasingly inviting today's dinner to join her on the couch. The two black panthers are her pets and they're called Umbra (Latin for shadow) and Tenebra (Latin for darkness, for those who know Latin, I'm aware the word is one of the pluralia tanta and normally only exists in plural, but I used a composed singular here because that simply sounds better as a name)
Made august 2008, entirely in graphite pencil. It was first of all meant as a body study but I managed to get myself so far as to do the surroundings as well this time. :P I especially liked figuring out Triya's pose and drawing the two panthers in this one. Spent quite a few hours on it, so I hope you like it!
Both the character and her background story are fully copyrighted to me, please don't steal.

nice work on the pose, and th anatomy!!! 1 i love the panthers, they would keep her perfectly safe! 1

:-) Nikki van de Pol replies: "Thanks! Glad you like the pose and anatomy, since this pic started out being a practice in those things. About the panthers, believe me, she’s perfectly safe without them as well 12 2"

Great work, I think she looks very real!

:-) Nikki van de Pol replies: "Thanks a lot! I was hoping for that 2"

Wow this one is amazing!! i wish i had her hair 1 nice work on the panthers too!!

:-) Nikki van de Pol replies: "Thanks for the wonderful compliment, I’m glad you like it that much 2 And about the panthers, they look a lot better on paper, much darker, and the fur looks more realistic, somehow the scan really brought the pencil strokes more to the fore than they should be...well, nothing to do about it I guess 2 "

Very nice drawing. 2 The proportions look really good... If you look close at it, the only odd I can see is her right leg and left ankle.

No matter, really nice 2

:-) Nikki van de Pol replies: "Thanks, glad you like it. And yeah, I know there’s a lot of flaws in there still, but hey, you can’t learn if you don’t make mistakes 2 "

Nice picture Nikki! The detail is just amazing, and i really like the panthers, dangerous pets indeed. maybe not quite as dangerous as our Siamese cat named Klingon... Anyway interesting story! I wish Triya would have met my Mom’s ex-husband before she did! He was a wife-beater and turned out to be Gay as well, just a pretender. Left her for another man and then found another female victim. So you see why i kind of like your twist on the old Vampire tale. She only picks out deserving victims- nice touch.

:-) Nikki van de Pol replies: "Thanks a lot for the wonderful compliment. The panthers were fun to draw as well, I’m just a bit sad the fur didn’t come out quite as dark as I’d wanted to once the picture was scanned. (and man, you’ve got to have one very fierce cat 9 ) And it’s nice to hear you like the story, it’s not really the main story of the tale, as she’s just one of many characters, but it’s still nice to hear that this background story works out. 2 And also, too bad for your mom, I’m truly sorry to hear what she’s been through, I hope she’s doing better now and that he’ll eventually get some very very deserved punishment. Such people just shouldn’t be around. "

A beautiful work. I love roman history.

:-) Nikki van de Pol replies: "Thanks a lot, glad you like it. And yes, I like roman history as well (figures, I’m a masterstudent Latin), so I was sort of bound to have at least one of my vampires originating there 2"
