Tag As FavoriteComment		Well, he was supposed to be some kind of a version of the Balrog... minus the wings, the molten fire, cloven hooves, and a neato whip. ><

He's now a second rate demon dude. Poor guy. Just a little sketchie from the old sketchbook. Background isn't so great; just wanted to have it dark. It also looked better as a large file... as well it looked better in my sketchbook...

had to check out your balrog after your comment on mine! If you ask me yours displays a greater amount of creativity - I think your portrayal of a balrog as a type of beast sets it apart from the other creatures that inhabit middle-earth and lends to it's status as the most bad-ass of morgoth's minions! nice one!

Very nice work, the shading is great! Perhaps Mr. Wannabe and the Movie Balrog shall have a fight?

THIS IS AWESOME!!!! YOu probably know what my favourite part of this is, because its probably yours aswell - awesome detail on it. This creature feels so heavy, so real. He could crush me by the sheer intensity of his appearance. He's more substantial than the movie balrog. I'd be more scared of this one - except that the fire one is huge-ass, and I'd hate it if he set my hair on fire.

Personally I think that this is quite an improvement on the original. Much as I love the traditional all-flaming, all smoking Balrog of Tolkein's books, this one feels more real and more believeable. I could just see it roaming some desolate part of the british countryside... thought I wouldn't like to come across it in person! An excellent piece of artwork!

Fine piece, ms. Cartoski! The pose is great and the glowing mane is very convincing, as are the bared teeth.

Very beasty! Agressive! Good. May I recommend using more of B-pencils (soft and dark) in your drawings - they would really give them more "oomf", if you know what I mean.
