I spent a lot of time and energy on this one - but here's my Faery Queen!

Originally the idea was just to have a Venus-like goddess (wider of course) standing in this pose with dark hair wrapped around her body like so (only spiralling the other way in my head - i changed the direction of the spiral since the face was toward the right - the hair wouldn't have wrapped around like a scarf as convincingly if it was also strung right-wards at the neck).
But then somehow i got this idea of a majestic, magnificent (and somewhat conceited) Faery Queen, with lovely green skin and beautiful blue hair!
I think she turned into a faery when i added the floating orchid above her left (<i>her</i> left, <i>our</i> right) hand.
I may still do a goddess version some day ...

But i am really super-proud of her!!!  It's been too long since i've done GREEN green skin!!  And yes, i do many of my wings in green/orange/purple combinations, but hell i love those colors!

I don't know if i'm done ... i feel she needs a background, but this is my big sketchbook ... so backgrounds are so annoying to do when filling larger paper ... with so many little curves and bits to color around ... But we'll see ... i may add something yet ...

Some of the proportions are funny, but overall i this is one of my all time faves!
(People have tended not to like her face ... i think it's one of the most beautiful faces i've ever done, this is classic beauty, but people have their opinions)

How 'bout you?

*First comment booty dance of death* Wow! this is so beautiful, she is so beautiful! I love her wings and the way you wrapped her hair around her body. How curvasious she is too I love it!!! =)Thank you very much! I think she's beautiful, too, and so does my girlfriend. We just don't understand why people have tended to comment (in other places than here) that they don't like her face! But it's one of my most favorite faces i've ever drawn!!So thank you for calling her beautiful!

I think she is absolutely beautiful. Like the way a woman who is a grandmother or mother is beautiful. She may not be beautiful in a societal sense, but she radiates love, experience, wisdom and gives off a sense of peace. Her face, to me, looks less cartoony then some of your pieces. I love them all but she looks like she could be real.Thank you very much. And that makes me happy that you think her face looks more real ... no reference was used, so that means accomplishment to me, hehe!

Absolutely amazing. I feel like there should be a contrasting background though.I know, i wish i had the patience to create the background i have in my mind ... but thank you for the compliment, too!!

I just wanted to tell you how lovely this image is. You've taken something that many find unattractive (a larger body) and made it a peice of art. I like that she has meat on her body since all faeries cannot be flawless. Stunning.Well, thank you for the wonderful compliments. I'm glad you enjoy it for the true reasons it should be enjoyed!

Funky - I love that you are challenging the stereotypical fairy type! Some thing I like to do in some of my fairy art too!
