Here's Iris, Greek Goddess of the Rainbow, busy at the work she loves.

This is another Art Trade with http://comethime.deviantart.com, the theme being Greek Goddesses. I came up with the theme this time, and asked her to do Athena (which she did a very lovely job with), and then she asked me to do Iris.
I'd never really known much about Iris, or even know she was a goddess, and even as i chose Greek Goddesses, i thought i was digging myself a grave. I put off looking her up on google, afraid i'd get only a bunch of close-up pictures of eyes.
But she'd completed her Athena for me, and i felt like a jerk for not starting yet ... so i looked her up. Turns out she's the Greek Goddess of the Rainbow, and i tried to memorize images associated with her: she tends to have wings, she tends to hold a staff with the double coiling serpants, and i think i read somewhere that she sometimes wore a dress/robe of rainbow colors ...
So, here she is!

Someone also suggested to me that i do a lot of just naked fat women (admittely i do, mostly because i don't know how to draw clothing very well) and suggested i draw a lovely BBW wearing a shear robe or dress or undergarment, which would be just as sexy, if not more. So, i tried to incorporate that into her, too!

This is a good picture and very nicely done, also very funny but i’ve done my research and in most of the saved pottery of her as a goddess she is skinny and beautiful. i do also appreciate the fact that you think of her as a larger goddess and what i said was in no way of rudeness to you. once again great work! 25 Feb 2010	Marin	Loading... Don’t listen to the people who say that this beautiful portrait of iris is in any way wrong or bad. I have been stugying Iris for a school project that i am doing and so many people see Iris in sooo many different ways and your way is how i think that Iris should be. your picture has given me many ideas for a costume.
