| 9 Dec 2005 | Shara Leanne Slorstad | Loading...Have you tried Krazy Glue? The kind of clay my dad got me is more for pottery and it ended up cracking a lot when the two I did dried and parts broke off, I found Krazy Glue worked perfectly! He's cute too! hope to see him completely finished! Sheryl ´Noadi´ Westleigh replies: "Krazy glue isn't really srong enough the wings are quite heavy, I need some heavy duty epoxy glue I just haven't gotten any yet." | |

Another suggestion is to lay a fairly sturdy wire along where the two parts have broken (following the curve of the "wing arm"), cover it with new clay, and rebake it, being sure to brace the wings well during the baking. Something you might consider in the future is to make the wing/frontleg component using one piece of wire (i.e. the armature for both limbs on one side is all in one piece). Otherwise, he's a grand looking dragon, Sheryl. I look forward to seeing more of your work! Sheryl ´Noadi´ Westleigh replies: "Actually the wing armature was one piece, it wasn't the armature that was the problem as much as the 6 foot drop, super sculpey just isn't meant to take that sort of abuse. I'm actually surprised it didn't break worse than it did. Super glue usually would work but the wings are a bit too heavy for super glue but epoxy should work fine as soon as I can track down some milliput." | |
