I wanted to do a more aquatic and fish-like take on a mermaid.  She's about 8 inches tall, super sculpey, and painted with acrylics.  I think I'm most happy with how her eyes came out because they were pretty tricky to paint.  If you look at the base you can spot several little critters, I had a lot of fun with those.

I'm definitely enjoying sculpting more than any other medium so I'm hoping to move to the next level and start casting my sculptures for sale, if I do this will be my first one.

Amazing work. I love the plinth she is on, it looks like a wacked out corset. Awesome.

Wow, this sculpture is amazing. I like the work you did on the gills and also the way you conveyed the fins on her head as hair. ^^ If you made a cast, I'd buy a reproduction.

What an awesome bust! It inspires me to start working with clay again, but I love the idea and style of the statue. It's presented very nicely as well, and I just love the idea.

Oooooooo...this is gorgeous ! As others said the head is original and perfect. It has a sort of an Art Nouevou (spelled wrong maybe ) feel to it. The base is perfect! I saw your other gallery... months ago I commented on your baby rat...( I'm psketch by the way ). I want to bow to your greatness but I'm too old to get up. Love your work!

This is incredible! Lots of sculptures I've seen try to look both realistic and stylized at the same time and don't quite pull it off the way you do. It is absolutely fabulous and the painting was just right.

This surely is an masterpiece. I like the expression on her face. Well done!
