Did you scan this one in two parts? It looks as if the upper part is slightly darker than the rest of the picture. I wish my scanner would allow me to do that, too, so I could draw larger pictures, but he has such a stupid design that every sheet of paper would crumple would it be bigger than the scanner bed ... Sherman Skip Nodler replies: "You must be commenting as I answer. Yes I scanned it in two parts and joined it in photoshop. I got rid of much of the joining line but I'm not all that good with photoshop. I use 100# paper so it's fairly stiff. The problem comes from where the paper goes over the edge of the scanner it raises off of the glass and that causes the scan to be darker on that side. It would be nice to have a scanner and printer that would do 11"x14" paper. I think that comes out to 27.5cm x35cm. Take care my friend, Skip"

Anyhoo, hey, nice fairy! I hope you try a few more full body pieces in the future. This makes a great addition to your gallery.

Sherman Skip Nodler replies: "Thank you for the return visit. To answer your question, first at an art store get some heavy, very smooth paper. Next I use Drafting mech. lead pencils. I have several that I keep leads of diferent hardnesses in. The harder the lead the finer and lighter the line. Soft leads darker wider lines. These pencils need a sharpener. Keep them sharp. The filings in the sharpener work good with smudge sticks. If you can't find them locally get back to me. There are some internet places. Skip"

And perhaps a bit more bold shading or even some color..take your time though! Love this one. Sherman Skip Nodler replies: "I’d like to see any new drawings from me{;-)> but free time of late is short. A guitar is easier to pick up. I will come look at the rest of yours though. Thank you for your visit and kind words. Skip"
| 28 Nov 2010 | Shelz Keast | Loading...Looks good. You should do a colour version. Have you considered getting GIMP or Photoshop to do a digital colouring? Sherman Skip Nodler replies: "Thank you for the visit. I’ve tried colour from time to time. Never happy with it. With the folks here who’s colour drawing I love I find myself wondering how lovely it would look in greyscale. Tanks again." | |
