She will get up at once and come up to him, and the brim of her dress will conceal the small knife on her ankle, deadly sword elegantly at her side...
| 31 Mar 2004 | Jennie Seay | Loading...Hey Skip - thanks again for the portrait. I have it hanging in my bedroom, and the other portrait is pinned on my corkboard just a few feet away. It was a truly nice, unexpected surprise. Perhaps I will see you again at the fair this year. I wouldn't mess with me either. I bite. Sherman Skip Nodler replies: "If you come to the fair this year again I shall come visit. Best excuse I could think of to go there. I should see about getting my band to do a gig there. I was at a friends house playing music , looked up and hanging on the wall was a portrait I did of him. I was surprised. Even with all the nice comments I've received it seems more real when I find that folks really hang these things on their walls. Thank you, Skip" | |

The juxtaposition of the lovely, smiling lady & the deadly sword is great! Also, I like the subtle texture on the tree. My only concern is that the similar tonal values 'flatten' the perspective somewhat. Perhaps working in more shadow areas to accentuate the wonderful highlights would help? Besides that, you continue to impress me. Thank you for sharing your work! Sherman Skip Nodler replies: "Yes, she has fuzzy feet. It was a big step for me to put a back ground in a drawing. I hope I'll get better with time. Jennie Seay was the first Elfwood site I visited. If you haven't seen her work you should. I got to meet her last year. She came to the Fairbanks fair. We had a nice visit and I gave her the drawing. Skip"

Espically with that little ankle knife she's hiding I love this picture, you should try doing some more from this perspective! ~Lila Sherman Skip Nodler replies: "Thank you for both comments. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit. I have one more day of work and then at least a month off and time to draw. I'm so looking forward to drawing again. I'll come visit soon.Skip"

| 30 Nov 2010 | Harriett L Randall | Loading...I’m new on here. But I love this one. I’m not too artistically articulate, so I can’t say why with any sense. lol But I know when something is excellently done. Sherman Skip Nodler replies: "Thank you! I’m never good at critiquing. When I like something it’s more emotional than whether it’s artistically correct though most often they go together. Thank you for your other comments as well. It’s -30 C here this morning." | |
