Experimented alittle with new brushes and techniques and Na'xar was "born". He is king of the bottomless crystalmines, beyond the lush forests of the elves.
No other dragons dare challenge his position, his might and magic strenghtened by his link to the crystals that is imbedded in and around his nest.

Na'xar is able to cast spells from the Crystal mastery list and Mineral mastery list and Fire Law at no cost of magical energy, energy is taken directly from the caves around him.

The first elves that settled down in the forests thousands of years ago say Na'xar ruled the caves even then.

Mostly round hard brushes, several layers.

It may be the angle, but the head looks a little large for the body. I can't see how the neck and hips suport it they look to short. I don't mean to offend really. I'm sorry. The rest looks cool. I love the fire and the background. Very scary as a whole.

2 Raymond E Gaustadnes replies: "Thanks for the feedback! The head looks oversized because of the "mane" of spikes and stuff on it, kinda like a Lions head. The feet looks smaller because I wanted a perspective/depth on the dragon, so they had to be painted smaller than they would"

Hey, great picture! I love the perspective, and the colors. That 1.5 day of work was worth it, congrats! Well deserved mods choice!
Keep up the good work! Happy drawing!

Fantastic work Raymond. I love the subject and what you have done with it....the whole colour set is menacing. The head and size seems a bit off though. I love the dragon breath curling around seeking to destroy....awesome work.

2 Raymond E Gaustadnes replies: "Thanks! No dragon has the same looks. Picture Yourself a lion with it's large fury mane. The idea was that this dragon has a similar "mane" consisting of spikes/hair. In addition the picture is painted with an angle to it..giving depth which adds to the dragon appearing smaller the further back into the picture it's seen"

A very good picture you have done well with this subject. I have to agree with the comment about the head proportions, and the angle from the neck. As well I would suggest that the fire coming out work from a straight line, much like one's breath. However a very good job.

Wow O_O
thats amazing!!!!!!
how did you do the fire?

2 Raymond E Gaustadnes replies: "I just experimented with different types of brushes in Photoshop elements 5, setting the size and opacity of the brush to pen pressure and setting the same brush to Jitter. This gave the chaotic look around the edges of the fire. Then some smudging of the flames to make them look like fire..Adding color/light/shade in the correct places comes next. I've saved this picture in several steps and I plan to post it as a step-by-step tutorial on my website www.digitalartwork.no sometime soon 1"

Hello. Nice colours and nice concept. I like the way you make blurred background a bit. I just wonder how is that fire made. May u give me an advice please?1

That is amazing! I know other people have said that already, but it really is. The fire is probably my favorite part, I like the sweeping effect you gave it. The dragon itself is well done to, though the limbs look a touch small? Otherwise, a great picture!

that’s an interesting direction for the fire to go. Was this done with oil paints???
