As I do quite often, I wrote a poem:

Dew

When early risers find their world
covered in unearthly pearls
They probably don't realise
what it is that has occured

For all these drops they have a tale
a soul, that's why they shine
I's on sadness that they prevail
reaped from man and time

You see there is a little fairy
that roams the world for pain and sorrow
She looks for those who are cold and dreary
and collects their tears for the dew tomorrow

I realise it's not a very happy poem but it suited my mood at the time. And it resulted in waht I think for now is one of my better drawings. (coloured pencils and a little acrylic paint for the whites)

Aw, so cool! Great concept, and the poem goes with the picture really well! I really like this pic!! ^_^ oh yeah, and i especially love the dew on the cobwebs!

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "I'm glad people like the dew n the cobwebs aspecially becaue I love it too, in real life and if you all like it in the picture it means I must have captured some of it! Thanks"

hey! I love this, but then again I've seen the original! Lol! I thought I'd leave another message since I don't do it often enough! sorry! And as others have said before (and I just seem to love echoing) I love the webs (though it took a while for me to see the small one!). Your stuff is great and don't let any Tom, Dick or Harry tell you any different! And the poem? very fitting and excellent.
cya.

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "*Grins* well hello Iris, you going around the net anonymous now?! Nice to see you come by once every while LOL if you come back in a week I expect to have some more up! And even tussen haakjes... there were no Tom Dick's or Harry's around.. *Blushes* I hope to see you before christmas!"

The last part of the poem really grasped me!
It's lovely, and very fitting with the picture,
i'll go dig a little deeper into your elfwood archive!

Great work!

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "*smiles* dig around all you like though not all of it like this one... this is one of my latest and there is a lot, and I mean A LOT, of old stuff around! thanks for dropping in,, glad you like the poem too!"

Beautiful and Congratz on a well deserved Mod's choice.

The plants are drawn so well I felt like if I touched my screen I would feel the leaves. As well as destroying some-ones sorrow when I accidentally (I am rather clumsy) knocked some of the dew off.

Further, though the poem is sad it also shows pain possibly can be turned to wonder? I enjoyed the poem and it for the most part read well. Though the rhythm changes in the last verse I think you can get away with it.

So you're leap-frogging over me to Hawaii - enjoy. - Looks at you with mixture of pure jealousy and envy.

I was also taken with the 'alien' fairy - I guess we are so used to them resembling us - how vain we can be at times.

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "*fairy runs after you muttering under her breath and cathcing the drops as they fall* Thankyou! I really had ecided I wanted to make a step in ucing colour pencils in this picture and so I put some serious tme and effort into it!it seems it is well rewarded by everyones sweet comments! 2And actually.. not to much leapfrogging.. I'm making a stop over in Canada to visit some family! YAYAnd yeah.. I was taken by the alienness of the fairy too, but somehow this is the way it wanted to be.. I'm merely a humble artist and listen to their wishes.. *grins*"

You should illustrate a book.
I love the colours.

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "If I had the patience to work out others ideas I might, but I don't. 2 I do commmisions occasionally but a whole book? Maybe if I wrote it LOLThanks for the compliment though!"

I actually like the poem better than the picture! Oops, that sounded mean! (Sorry, I'm a literature-lover, poems especially, but I like pictures, too.) I really like the detail of the whole picture. The dew and grass seem to really shine, which is hard to do.

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "That;'s okay, I tend to swiths between a love for words and a love for art.. sometimes the one says what you want to communicat ebtter then the other!"
