Well... this is my half of an art trade with Jay and illustrating one of his poems, go read! There was a lot in my head after reading the poem and when starting this but as I couldn't find bigger paper suitable for colourpencils as well as ink, so it is a bit on the small side. I think it was for the best and the minimalism worked for this piece! It would have taken away from the eye otherwise and have become crouded.

I've been trying pictures inside eyes before, as many things go on in there, but I think this turned out better than any other ever did! Thankyou for the inspirtion Jay!

coloured pencils and black ink...

Me again. I didnt get a chance to get into the artistic aspect in my last comment. Some things I wanted to point out; I love the weave, it is incredible how you created an almost eyelash look but still kept it within the borders of... well, Celtic borders. The colours are stunning and the sea green of the eye is absolute in regards to the feeling in my poem. The laziness of her "laid back" look creates such a gentle ambiance and adds to the calmness that is highly evident in your drawing and somewhat evident in my poem. The blue leaves are a nice touch and they compliment the other colours beautifully. All-in-all this picture is gorgeous and full of Meike magic. Thanks again, oh, my half of the trade is in queue, no colour I'm afraid but I have been in a colourless mood for some time now. Talk to you soon.

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "Well, how can I mind it being you again when you bestow so much compliments upon me.. haha. Cant wait to see what comes out of that queue. My first Celtic eye is somewhere on my art attack page... it is much smaller and purely celtic knotwork but I was already playing with the eyelash idea back then. I'm really glad I got bit's of the poem right 2"

*stares* this is absolutely amazing! The concept of a picture within an eye is fastinating! *wonders why i didn't ever think of that* The shading and blending you did for the eye is very impressive! *looks at the tree* that looks like a common tree type that i am using for me story that i'm *trying* to write 1 I also like the black outlining! O.o This is just totally amazing!!

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "I'm gad you think so... I've been playing with the idea of pictures in eyes for a while and this art trade was just the right thing to inspire me. "

Wow, brilliant. The border reminds me of the work of Patrick Woodroffe, and when you think to the style of the ideograms in the Pentateuch of Cosmogony you can almost imagine Child of the Void mixed in somewhere in those knots, which of course made me think of ’’The eye opened. Saw. Stayed open - tears drying away.’’ Definately deserving of the Mod’s Choice.

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "Interesting! I didn’t know this artist and he has some beautiful works up! Cannot find the ones you are talking about though... thanks for your comment!"

This is really brilliant- I notice you like drawing women, especially with wings... and pencil... you’re good at pencil drawings 2

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "They say most people prefer drawing women over men when they aim for beauty, Something to do with curves 12 but yeah I draw women a lot.. I try to change that for practice on occasion but men are soooo bloody hard... plus.. I’m a very patient model... have yet to make my brother pose! LOL"
