I had this thought of two lovers who could never be united on earht and so got to be together as an angels pair of wings for the rest of eternity... and sketched it out... Then I had the thought of trying it out in a few different media and REDREW it! I usually make my sketch into my final product so I'm proud. Then I used WTERCOLOURS! the unusable, runny, most ennoying media on earth which I find soooo hard to control and made it into something which I am actually liking! YAY! LOL.. leave me loads of comments ;)

Absolutely fantastic! Love the concept of the lovers as wings! Yay, a well-deserved mod's choice! Congrats^^

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "Well thank you! And how nice to see you come by! Glad you like it so well, that's like a double compliment coming from an artist I admire 12 *smiles*"

At first I wondered why the angel had holes in her wings. Then I noticed the faces. Then I read the description and noticed that the lovers had arms as well. I like pictures that take figuring out (and that are interesting enough in the first place so that you take the time to figure them out).

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "I know exactly what you mean as always like those too! And I'm honoured that you find mine to belong to those kind 12 YAY!"

Wow! (i've been saying that a lot about your art)!! The idea itself is absolutely increadible! You did a wonderful job on the wings, and, no matter how much you hate the watercolors, it looks like the watercolors love you!! *ish jealous of your inhuman talent*

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "*rolls over with laughter* trust me they don't love me! But I'm glad you like it, I like this one too. And you are also very welcome to saying WOW 12 that's always nice to hear!"

Hmmm... this pictures is interesting. Not only does it make you actually LOOK at it and find all the cool little details, but it makes it hard by being in that kik-butt-kool... shading style? color scheme? I don't know what it's called- I'm talking about how you used diff colors for each layer of shading... The butt is actually too round- if she was sitting on something it would be flattened (slightly) towards the bottom. Haahaa bottom of the butt. Sorry I'm in a weird mood. Anyways, the anatomy of her and her arm is awesome, I don't think its THAT out of balance, but if you're gonna do everything symmetricalish you oughta try and keep it that way. *shrug* That just why it looks uneven. The hand rocks! GO AWESOME HAND! ^_^

BUT!

The BIGGEST problem, yes PROBLEM, I'm sorry I hate to do it, but I have to-

HER WINGS ARE BACKWARDS!!!!!!! The wings would be folding FORWARDS, towards her front. Instead theyre like hyper-extending. How you drew them here would be how they would look if you were looking at the person from the front. Sadly, this fact completely ruins the picture for me, though how I want to love it, I can't, because everytime I look at it its like- AHH! BACKWARDS WINGS! I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I'm just stating facts. The picture is amazing and the style is awesome, but the wings are backwards. I'm not trying to flame, I'm just telling you. Cheers.

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "I know exactly what you mean. the PROBLEM:it was all fine till I started colouring and then when I looked up I realised that by the way of colouring the wing did have a tendency to look backwards.. however these are watercoluors..!!! scary media... and I was happy with how it turned out and I managed to hol on to the original image and by knowng that it wasn;t going backward I managed not to see it!Am really gald that you said exactly what you think though because that is what helps artists along.. and oh, the head and arm going to a side were meant to throw the picture of balance, I dont like symmetrical 2Thanks for a great comment!"

LOL @ Comment by Ilze =D I really don't see that.

My comment is on the wings too, but of a different nature: I
luv'm. I find it really hard to do nice wings but you kind of
kicked arse doing them. Wicked =)

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "*smiles* Wings and eyes.. I love doing them so.. eventually... that meant I had to start drawing humans 2 LOL or angels or whatever they are! "

Hey! Is this one new? I don't think I've seen it before. I really like the colors, and the name is perfect for it. Hope you're having a great summer. Keep up the good work and good luck with everything.
Much Aloha,
Colleen

:-) Meike de Nooy replies: "Hey Colleen! I've been a slacker with replying! this one is actually not new.. I've hardly done anything creative over he summer unless waterpolo is creative 2 Am Back in Hawaii now, can;t wait to meet all the new girls, it;ll be so strange! Hope you;re having a great somer too! And will keep in touch!Aloha and Love!"

wow, this looks like it must have taken for ever. I love the wings, and the anatomy is great, except i think that the extended arm is a little long compared to the rest of her. amazing work! ^__^
