| 26 Feb 2006 | Anneke Hut | Loading...Meike, you can work in so many styles! This one is really special and beautifully painted. I love the soft colours. Meike de Nooy replies: "Thanks Anneke, it took quite a while to finish as art seems to take time?!?! who would have thought! and lately I donlt have much quiet time for art! HAd fun doing it though, still am not much for watercolours, but practice makes perfect they say..." | |

| 30 Jun 2006 | Aija Sadovica | Loading...A5 being the default size I work on (well, when I actually use a paper, which seems to be not often enough to begin with) - I guess I can relate to "gosh, I really should try to work on larger scale" As for the picture itself - somehow it looks as something painful. Could be the amount of gears, could be the translucent-looking thing that seems to be gear embedded in her body - it is hard to say. But painful it looks.... Maybe it's because the gaunt face brings up some association with death? But whatever the reason for pains it emanates, the picture itself looks very captivating. It's not exactly beautiful, for things depicted feel dangerous and far from anything you would associate with beauty - but I just have to return to it again and again, to gaze for some and try to figure out what's happening with it. At the "Air" picture you mention thinking as to what "Earth" would look like. When Air was the very essence of element not only in content, but in performance as well - this could very well be the earth. The timelessness, the death, the colors and the weight, the amount of information, layered on top of each other - it seems to express the essence of Earth element in a way similar to you "Air". And, since I have already rambled on for so long, I might as well drop this here, instead of cluttering up the guestbook - I'll just have to add this gallery to that list 'where to look, when all inspiration for stories has managed to run out'. Meike de Nooy replies: "Well I'm glad my drawing could imspire you!If anythig ever triggers a story please let me know! I would love to read it I sometimes read for inspriation too so who knows!I recently added an "water"picture to my earth and air... it is an approaching storm and only vaguely related to water but I like the series so far and I like how they are elemsnts but not in their true form sop to say..Oh well.. Thanks for the comment. It was greatl;y appreciated and never feel shy about filling up my comment boxes!!!" | |
