This is a white unicorn slowly turning black by studying evil magic. (At least that's how I imagine him to be). I've seen this character in our chat room for years now, but we haven't really played much together. Yet I was inspired by his appearance. I also wanted to study different methods to paint surfaces.

Water colours and coloured pencils on light brown cardboard.

I like this picture a lot, he has character and isn't too cutesy, more majestic.

BUT (you know me, there's always a but) The cloth/robe he's wearing lacks texture and dimension. Cloth is never that smooth, you shoud either drape it over him or add some texture to the fabric itself. Know what I mean?

:-) Johanna Iso-Järvenpää replies: "Well, thank you! You might be right with that cloth. I'm not so much into fabrics myself, that I would notice that sort of stuff. But since others does, thanks for the remind."

Excuse me, Mr Unicorn, I don't want to disturb your evil magics and all that, but look, someone has stuck this iron thingy in this lovely wall. I'll just pull it out *jas grabs hold of iron thingy and starts to pull*

Oh, the brown cardboard works great, Johanna. The pencils and water colour work great with it. You are always doing interesting things with your mediums.

*Jas stops* What is that rumbling? Run, the wall's coming down!

*pants* Hey, they should build these walls so they don't fall down... that is dangerous. First I find this iron thingy in it and when I pull it out, it falls down! What kind of workmanship is that, I say.

Hih, I was being silly, but I was really impressed with that iron thingy. Do you remember me asking you about them in the walls of Turku castle? For everyone who doesn't know, they are there to stable the wall... so don't pull them out!

:-) Johanna Iso-Järvenpää replies: "Yep, I remember that conversation back then. Seems that I managed to explain the meaning of those rods to you with my poor spoken English anyway. "

*Astonished large Unicorn stares his own picture. He never believed that Fistandantilus would even remember him much less making a picture which presents him. D'allan don't know is there a such thing as beautiful anymore but he have to say that his own picture is a great artwork. Not because he would be handsome or something like that, it really isn't true. But good artist can always made a fine picture.*

Thank you really much about that! He couldn't expect this at all but He really likes it much. Background is nice looking and it reminds him about those so interesting walls in Red Bat's Castle. (Maybe someone still wonders why.) Mane in that picture is exactly what it really a long time have been. His manta haven't ever been purple but he must say that color looks fine. (Maybe he should buy one.) One thing which you have forgotten is beard. (I have read from many source that stallion Unicorns always have beard but Unicorns appearance is in any case very arguable. At least D'allan has it.) It's good that you didn't paint his legs or tail visible because you couldn't surely know how they should look.

But thanks again a lot about that picture. I really *love* it. Of you someday sell your art I will buy that one straight away. D'allan's real appearance isn't like that one but it doesn't matter at all. You have made exellent work considering at you didn't have much knowledge about it.

There is still one thing which disturbs me: 'D'Allan, unicorn'. It should be at least 'D'allan, unicorn' the best would be 'D'allan, Unicorn'.

:-) Johanna Iso-Järvenpää replies: "I't always great to receive comments from the players of those characters I draw. Thank you for seeing that trouble!
Explanation to that purple cloth is, that the paper I painted wasn't really a water colour paper but ordinary carboard. I knew, it wouldn't stand black colour, witch tends to appear messy anyhow. I'm quite aware, D'allan uses only black. 2 On the other hand, his beard is something I didn't know about. Thinking of whitch, it would be nice to receive a full description of D'allan's appearances, in order to make a proper portrait some day. How about that?
Thank's for reminding, I corrected the title right away."

He doesn't look unicorn enough. More like horse.
Anyway, it's nice painting.

I like the painting, but i dont like the picture itself, because unicorns suppose to be good magic and im not into the good magic, i study the ancient dark magic!

:-) Johanna Iso-Järvenpää replies: "Very well then, but if you read the description, it'll be apparent that you and this unicorn has something in common. And thank you for the positive comment!"

I like the idea of unicorns studying, studying magic, studying dark magic and tunrning black. The design, colors and overall atmosphere are stunning as always. I really like his look, as if he is tired, but fascinated.

I've never seen a unicorn quite like this one before, which is something, in a site filled to overflowing with every imaginable concept of the word. Very nice colors.

Hmm, more people from Punaisen Lepakon Linna? I used to play there a lot some time ago, but now I usually play only in MSN... Maybe I should visit there again sometime.

I´m amazed of your talent with watercolour. I tried them sometimes, but didn´t get really anything worth of mentioning done. Unicorn looks a little too horsey for my taste, but I´m not saying anything more about that because like I said, it is only MY opinion of unis after all. Head and the backround look fantastic, not to mention that horn. WOW. On top of that, I like the story behind the picture... Never saw many unicorns in the Linna, didn´t know there really was one. =P

11 Johanna Iso-Järvenpää replies: "Yes, Linna it is. I haven't been there for a while but I had some great time playing there.
I often use water colours only for the base of a painting, the fine details I do with soft coloured pencils. For high lights, if needed, I use acrylic paint. I find it hard, too, to receive top quality surface with only water colours.
I admit, this unicorn looks just like a big horse. But please consider, that I actually _was_ intending to do a unicorn, not just stick a horn to my horse painting in order to fit it in Elfwood, as *ahem* some of us do."
