Sleipnir again, this time in a stable.
The myth of Sleipnir is located in Iron Age Scandinavia, and this I wanted to bring up in this painting. The log building and the woman's dress are both based on real arceological foundings. The small and stocky horse breed is also original.

The woman is wearing wool and linen clothes that are held on by a pair of large bronze buckles. Her shoes and basket are made of birch bark.

Oil on canvas, 31 x 21 cm.

O_o *does a double take* @_@ 8 legs?! I honestly must have been looking at this and admiring the lighting source for a good 10 seconds before I realised that *ahem* minor physiological detail. Excellent work. I’d hope to see this one with a Mod’s choice!

Very nice horse. I love oils. Not as nice as your other sleipnir pictures though, mainly for the reason that the front hooves, when compared to the placement of the back hooves, appear to almost be floating about an inch off the ground.

Lovely picture of Sleipner! He's my absolute favorite in all mythologies 2 I have a vague memory that he's supposed to be gray though... but that doesn't matter, he's wonderful anyway *nicks him* The woman and the stable are also very beautiful, I just love the atmosphere, keep it up!
