Again, hard to give a name... This one has so special symbolism and then again, for some of you it is just a picture of a kneeling black mage and a unicorn.>br>(Trivial data: I made a mistake composing those two character on the lake/ river bank. The unicorn was supposed to 'bless' the mage with it's horn, but it was standing too far to do that above his head. I noticed that only after I had painted the horn _in front of_ the wand. I corrected my mistake, but it was too late to ask the unicorn to take a step closer!)

Oil on canvas.

bravo! this picture is great...I really like the texture of it and the reflection. Its awesome in the sense that its kinda like a bad character kneeling before a creature that represents purity...interesting!

:-) Johanna Iso-Järvenpää replies: "That's what intriques me, too: a hint that there is something so pure in the white creature, that a dark mage doesn't hesitate kneeling before it - without loosing his own pride."

That's beautiful! The colors of the unicorn against the watersurface and the dull white of the weather are give a fantastic atmosphere. The unicorn seems a bit sturdy but thats propably because otherwise unicorns are often depicted as exeggarated frail horselike beeings less than horses.
I love the devotional pose of the man, the devotional moment of the entire scenery.

Unicorns have, and will remain my favorite subject to draw, and look at. Your work is wonderful. Among the world of Unicorn people there are those who look, those who render, and those who improve what they already know. You are one that reders--VERY WELL!!! I really like the symbolism, and I think it is okay that the Unicorn is standing a step or two, too far away--maybe he doesn't want to risk touching her more than would be proper of an animal of his status???

Oh my I do believe that this is my favorite pieces of yours, the elegance, the purity, and just the sense of peace. The lake behind them is truly amazing. The entire picture is magnificent! Namaste.

atually I like it like that it makes it look like the Mage is bowing either to ask forgivess or in respect of such a magestic animal

Before i even clicked on it, i had the thought that the unicorn is blessing or "knighting" the figure in black ... Neat how that's what it really was, hehe. Very very pretty.

:-) Johanna Iso-Järvenpää replies: "I like to think, that both of the characters are ranked high among their own, and that they are representing opposite philosophical aspects. In this case, they are both wise enough not to fight each others but to show respect."

This is my favorite among yours, along with "Sleipnir in a stable". The colours are amazing, esp. the shadows on the unicorn. It makes me wanna paint 2
