Don't worry about YOUR college killing the sci-fi/fantasy gene--every college does that nowadays. I told my department head I was going in to study Mervyn Peake (fantasy writer/contemporary of Tolkien and Lewis) and she laughed at me. Just the way the world works. Keep in touch. I'd love to see more of you work! Jason D. Allard replies: "I know the feeling about having choice of authors shot down. I wanted to do something about Stephen King and his ambitious Dark Tower series, but my 20th Century American Authors prof (who happened to be my advisor and former fiction writing prof as well...) wouldn't let me. At least someone in the dept. had the guts to do a sci-fi class one semester. Granted, it was all early stuff, up to the mid-60's or so.I'm glad you like my writing. I'll be setting aside some time in the next day or so to read more than just the prologue to "Fire and Wind." I'd do it sooner if work wasn't stealing away my time off this week. Stupid job...paying the bills just gets in the way of important stuff..."
| 18 Oct 2003 | Sara Elaine Abis | Loading...Not all schools are like that (but most are) I just finished a reasearch paper on Ray Bradburys Martian Chronicles, and although it is old it is still science fic. and another girl in my class did her paper on a short story by Steven King, i dont remember which one. they are both famous authors though, and i am only a freshman so my paper and the papers you are talking about are most likely a lot different. Well anyway Teachers suck when they dont let you do things that interest you. (sorry for butting in) | |

| 16 Mar 2004 | J (Proudfoot) Taylor | Loading...I happened upon your house at Elftown. Seeing that you updated, I did something I don't normally do: I visited your Wyvern's Shelf.
I would be interested in your opinion on any of the stories that are up in my Wyvern's Shelf. I greatly appreciate it if you would leave constructive critisism.
Thank you for your time. I shall now go read some of your writing.
