SciFi and Fantasy Art Barbarian by Charles-Emmanuel Ouellette

Here my depiction of a barbarian warrior. I gave him a bit of Celtic like ornamentation on his robe, sword and belt, to suggest some kind of clan culture behind him. The whole idea to draw such a character came from a vintage He-Man action figure… I saw the barbarian, Peplum like outfit and decided to try myself at one! And of course, there is some influence of the John Buscema style depiction of Conan, which made me color the character's hair red to difference the character a bit. Still, the B&W version can be a fitting portrait of Howard's hero, to my sight at least.

My only crit is that the handle of the dagger in his belt looks too small for his hand to grasp Charles-Emmanuel Ouellette replies: "Glad you like, the scars were inspired by Howard’s hero Conan, who is always described with multiples battle scar from all his adventures. The Celtic pattern came out naturally, as the whole barbarian imagery take root from northern Europe clans. As for the dagger, I saw it more like a small utility knife or a ceremonial dagger, as indeed it is too small for the barbarian hands!"

25 Feb 2008	Shrek	Loading... Yeah, it’s true: he sucks at shaving. But I wouldn’t say anything about that when around him. He doesnt’ look like he can deal with criticism too well.
