Here the Wild Boar Company emblem, inspired by Celtic imagery. I made this illustration with graphite and brushpen (which I use all the time), as well as some help from my computer. I first sketched the whole emblem, scanned it and redrawn it on Freehand (which, to me, is quicker than a ruler to come up with straight lines and well balanced proportions). I then printed the Freehand with very pale lines, retraced them with my brushpen to broke the perfectly straight lines (which don’t make really medieval to me) and added the whole ornamentation with a plain HB pen. I used this technique on some professional job, as in Vircom’s the 4th prophecy online game (which sadly have been plugged of by now) and for Dream Pod 9’s Tribe 8 rpg line, on which I first developed this method. The Wild Boar Company emblem is the first time I use this technique for a personal drawing.

Picture looks great, what colors would you use if you had to colorize it?

Cool...the eyes are creepy, and it does have a celtic tone to it...
holy crackers, i just love it ^_^

:-) Charles-Emmanuel Ouellette replies: "Glad you like. The eyes are indeed creepy; they basically come from a clip art catalog of Celtic design where there was a neatly stylized Wild boar. I basically kept the same basic drawing for the face, yet I reconfigured the rest of the body to fit the two symmetrical wild boars and round shapes. The ornamentation completed to personalize the piece, and voila!"

Holy POOP that's awesome! All your stuff rocks, but there's something about emblems and logos that just catch my eye first. This is REALLY cool!
*bows to your infinite skill for detail*

:-) Charles-Emmanuel Ouellette replies: "Glad you like! I have a formation in graphic design, so logo is kind of a natural for me. Norice that the basic form of the logo is quite simple, as I designed it first, and then all the details where added. I couldn't have strated doing the details at first, it'll had confuse me and distracted from the overall form. Thanks for your comment."

This is great! The techniques you've used work really well to achieve that medieval-style look.
I'm very interested in callighraphy and illumination, and when I saw this I was like 'holy cr*p! this is the kind of thing I want to be able to draw on my texts'. It's very elegant and extremely well made. Kudos!

This is certainly not a 'boaring' picture. That is officially one of the worst jokes in the world.

Absolutely magnificent. Your knowledge of Celtic symbolism, combined with your great talent of drawing, has made this emblem fantastic looking. To be honest, I like this version better than te colored one.
