The Green Man himself. Personification of nature, he lives in the trees, the grass, the flowers, the leaves, in the ancient woods of this land. Of the green men I've done this is one of the more traditional in terms of design. I quite like how the border brings the central image out, but feel the actual image used as the border is a bit poor. When it's on cards etc it's quite small though and looks really good.
I love painting the Green Man for the multitude of possibilites with which he can be rendered, theres so much variety to the plant world and he represents all of it. This is one of the few pictures I've done without black ink line drawing, so I put more work into the actual watercolour painting itself, which i usually keep quite minimal in terms of shading etc.
