| 16 Feb 2007 | Paul Bielaczyc | Loading...Thanks everybody for your help in naming my latest piece of art. I have settled on a final title. It did not come from a specific individual, but sort of grew out of everyone's ideas.
I think the title jumped out at me from a comment on Elf Wood. An anonymous post said, "The Lure of the Woods." That got me thinking about what sort of females "lure" stupid men, possibly to their deaths. That made me think about the ancient sirens. Of course, they are only in the ocean, but the world for tree and forest nymphs, dryads, doesn't have the connotation of a siren. So it grew from there.
The world sylvan in Tolkien Elvish means "Elven Forest," so that became a piece of the puzzle. And then many mentioned garden. It was a toss up between grove, glen, and garden.

| 20 Feb 2007 | Lindsy G. Smigel | Loading...I keep finding myself coming back to this piece. It reminds me so much of the girl I work with. She's in the next cubicle, and I seriously think that's creepy.. in a good way though! This is so realistic, like if I just pull back my friend's hair I'll see that pointed...... *yelps when her hand is smacked* hehehe | |
| 21 Feb 2007 | Richard Clark | Loading..."A Wayward Mischief" - seems to work for me. | |
| 8 Apr 2007 | Hayley | Loading...Wow!! I love it!! I love how it doesnt look cliche like almost all the elves in the woods.... It also look like my cousin... Lol... | |
| 12 Jun 2007 | Anonymous | Loading..."The time has come" of maybe "Welcome" | |
| 23 Sep 2007 | David Michael | Loading...Her face doesn't look quite as classically beautiful as elves usually are depicted, but maybe that's not what you were aiming for. Her eyes are quite effective, though, as is the forest behind her. All in all, a very good piece, and I do like it.
I know you've picked a title, but this piece seems to suggest a simpler and more allusory one than "Siren of the Sylvan Grove." Something like "Night Lights" would seem to fit the feel a bit better...at least, as I see it. | |
| 9 Jul 2008 | Emily Max Lee | Loading...I was thinking of something along the lines of "Forbidden Curiousity" since the both the maiden and the human are curious of each other, yet are forbidden to interact. Lovely picture! I love the mystery in the picture. It looks so...well, mysterious | |
