A lilac grows out of the wound on his chest. The light coming from the lilac reveals that the dragon has a chest of gold, and that his black, torn wings are actually a gradient of black to blue to green, something he had forgotten. (The bottom looks skewed, I'm sorry, the digital cameral keeps doing that and I have no idea how to fix it)

Fabulous piece! it has a japanese print-making style, which i love. was the background altered in photoshop? if not, how did u do it, then? keep up the great work, hope to see more.

:-) Anne-Marie S. Lemieux replies: "Thanks for the comment, Jenny. I'm actually really really happy to know that someone thinks it's of the Japanese print-making style. I always kind of prided myself in the back of my mind that the black on gold reminded me of a Japanese style. I'm something of a Japaholic, so thank you very much! The background was done by hand with crayons and pencil crayons. I used an image editing program to fade out the line down the centre (it was on two separate pieces of paper), but other than that, it was done all by hand. You will definately see more from me, I promise 12"

I have no idea how to say what parts I like about it because the entire picture blends together so perfectly that it would be just wrong to break it down into little parts. This is, quite literally, the greatest piece of art I have ever seen.

:-) Anne-Marie S. Lemieux replies: "God. What can I say to that? Wow. I'm honoured. I really, truly, honestly don't deserve any such high praise from anyone. But if it struck such a cord with you, I can only say thank you and I'm delighted to hear it. I only hope you recieve this message somehow so you can know my gratitude. Yes, people have said similar things about this piece before, but everytime it happens, it feels amazing. "

Sheesh. You can really see the pain/sorrow/whatever other emotion in his face! It's amazing how you can color like this...I wanna take him home with me! Can I keep him?!

14 Anne-Marie S. Lemieux replies: "Ahhh, thank you so much. I was trying to go for a mixture of surprise, pain, sadness, and wonderment. Again, I don't think the emotion is as precise as it could be, but I'm glad it was clear to you just the same. As for taking him home...heheh, I'm sure he'd love to come home with you one day...I'm looking into making prints of this one in the future someday. I'll let you know when that day comes! "

Oh wow... closer up he's even more stunning! I know you said you were disappointed in the background, but I think it fits perfectly. Just like everything in the picture, coming together *exactly* right! And drawn sooo incredibly well. Too good!

:-) Anne-Marie S. Lemieux replies: "^_^ Thank you again, Eleanor! It's rare that people look at the close up view, and it's kind of disappointing sometimes. You can see the difference by looking at the number of page views under each picture! I'm glad you think it looks even better up close...the overall view loses a lot of the detail that I worked so hard on, even if people still say it looks detailed. Sometimes, art looks better from far away...I'm glad you don't think so this time 2"

Wow! Is it just me or does this one pack some emotional content? Great illustrative piece. Good depth, great mood and motion as well. I am truely impressed with this one. Very well done. Via Lemieux!

:-) Anne-Marie S. Lemieux replies: "Hey thanks - to be honest, I had this one comment that said the face messes the whole thing up, and I agreed at the time, but really, on the whole, most of the comments have said it's very emotional. Now, I wonder if this is the same thing as 'moving'....or mabey I'm being over analytical 10 It is what it is, and it's my first masterpiece - my art will never be the same!"

I was so sad looking at the big picture, because I thought he was holding a flower, and that even a fragile little flower would outlast him, even though once he had been a big strong dragon, but I'm happy again, because now I know it's a magic flower, and the dragon's goig to get better. Yay!

This picture evokes emotions almost too deep for words.

I see something along the lines of : "We are all born with wings but life batters and tears at us so hard that we often forget that we can fly." He's wings blowing away, combined with his confused and broken expression, seem to be like dreams and aspirations leaving.

This is gorgeous and painful. This is ART!

Just goes to show:

After all the pain and heart ache, warrior,
thy gasps, though they come harder, stronger, louder,
breathe life into every thing that ever gave you hope.
In the abyss of painful memories, which rips thy heart,
grows one solid seed of truth and light.
