I always kind of prided myself in the back of my mind that the black on gold reminded me of a Japanese style. I'm something of a Japaholic, so thank you very much! The background was done by hand with crayons and pencil crayons. I used an image editing program to fade out the line down the centre (it was on two separate pieces of paper), but other than that, it was done all by hand. I see something along the lines of : "We are all born with wings but life batters and tears at us so hard that we often forget that we can fly." He's wings blowing away, combined with his confused and broken expression, seem to be like dreams and aspirations leaving.
