Too sketches i did, one unfinished and the other complete. The Smaith is done in pencil and The Sunken One is done in biro and watercolour, both have been touched up in photoshop. They were both relatively quick sketches. Theres no back story behind the Smaiths at the moment. The Sunken Ones are the protectors of the planet and remain asleep in the deep ocean trenches of the world until the planet needs them.

I genuinely think these guys are my favourite of ur new set of drawings. the anatomy is just fantastic; especially on the ’sunken ones’, i dont no how u do it... im attending a ’creative digital drawing’ class at eca atm... trying to improve my photoshop skills but am totally confused - vector masks, paths and all sorts. Hmm, practice i guess.
What inspired u to do these?
Its really working for u, for sure.

:-) Perrie Nicholas Smith replies: "Happy New Year. This reply is erm... a bit late. Not sure why i did the Smaith, it just came to me. I love the idea of deepsea life, theres just so much we don’t know about in the dark depths of the ocean so i did some research on shells and such and i came up with the design for The Sunken Ones. It won’t take long for photoshop to click and then you will wonder why you ever thought it was difficult. I was stuck with it when i first started."
