Foreward rushed the Dunedain and nothing could stop their advance anymore. There came Areno and Weon, the brothers, fighting side by side and using their spear and sword like they would have been but a single person.
There came the dwarf Nar, shouting battle cries with his rough dwarwen language and striking with his axe all who opposed him.
There came Dorlim, in all of his firstborn might and fury, swinging enemies with his blade and orcs yielded before him.
But before them all, in the head of the vanguard, came Aldarian in her Arnorian armor and Luinril in her hand delt death with a blue flame. Deep in to the ranks of the enemy she pushed and Orcs wavered before her eyes.

It was the Spring of year 2976 TA, when rumors of the new rise of the Angmar started to circulate the lands of the Eriador. It was these rumors which worried the wise and so Elrond the half elf summoned a council which was to be held in the Rivendell. Elven attendees from Rivendell, Grey Havens and Lothlorien as well as few notable humans amongst the Dunedain and the wizard Gandalf the Grey answered the call.
During the council Elrond revealed his fear of Sauron's plans to revive the might of the Angmar and crush the last free people of the north. Council wanted to verify these rumours and do whatever they could to counter the threat.
Dunedain were asked to take the reponsibility of this but as Aragorn, son of Arathorn, the headman of the Dunedain (and Isildur's heir) was away on his long travels, it was decided that Aldarian, daughter of Arathwaith would lead and execute these plans. As a heir of the Kings of Cardolan, Aldarian was the "next" of the Dunedain. Aldarian willingly accepted.
During the summer of year 2976 the rumors were confirmed to be true. Angmar was gathering its old strenght and power back. Another council was held and this time it was decided that elves and men would gather all their available forces in the north and strike before Angmar would be strong again. The leadership and command of this force was given to Aldarian and she led it against the forces of Angmar.
It was the Autumn of the year 2976 TA which would determine would Eriador fall under the shadow of Angmar.
Huh, this has been a long project which I have been doing with my spare time along the last 3-4 weeks. This is by far my most "crowded" picture as I don't usually draw many individuals in the same drawing.
Anyway, I wanted to do a battle scene from my own Middle-Earth related novel "Last heiress of Cardolan" and therefore here it is. The long description gives a little background about the plot of the novel and what this picture represents.
Last heiress of Cardolan is created by me.
