She splayed the cards and read my fortune as I chose my hand. "You will suffer greatly in life, have many loves and losses, gain a fortune and then lose it again, and finally you will die, sick and alone," she said once she finished turning all the cards over. "That's not a very pleasant fortune," I glowered. "I don't believe you." "The cards don't lie," she shrugged. "And what about you?" I pressed. She paused. "Neither do I," she smirked. "This is why I'm not a very good fortune teller." Paul Baxter replies: "So, how much did you pay for this 'fortune?' Sadly, this chick-a-biddy only seems to have one card, but she won't tell me what it is..." | |
