| 3 Nov 2002 | Linda Gock | It has been wonderful looking through your gallery. I am really amazed (and somewhat jealous) that you can do stuff this well at 14 *cringes at the thought of my work when I was that age*. I like your attitude towards your work, and that way you can only improve! I like the detail you show in your art, and the smoothness with which you shade your black and white pics, and how interesting each of them are. OK, enough of the compliments, how would you like to do an art trade? Sophia C Aviva replies: "Thanks so much for the nice compliments. I feel all blushy now.An art trade? With you? Really-really? Wheee! That'd be so cool! I'm thrilled! [/gushing] Email: phiagurl@yahoo.com" | |
| 19 Nov 2002 | Marlena Cannon | You have an interesting and cool style of drawing people's faces, kind of surreal caricatures. Don't lose that style as you get better with body proportions! Sophia C Aviva replies: "Whee, it's Marlena! Thanks for visiting, and thanks for the compliments." | |
| 30 Nov 2002 | L. Mitchell | I love your style. You have been linked in my Fantasy gallery (thanks for commenting, by the by). Sophia C Aviva replies: "Thank you so much! 'Tis an honor. I'll link you when I next update. (And, wow, I've neglected my Elfwood gallery for so long that I will have quite a bit of updating to do!)" | |
| 10 Dec 2002 | Amy B. Worden | Wow! I really enjoyed strolling through your gallery here. And it's great to know there is a fellow Stories.com member who has dual citizenship in Elfwood! I admire your style and think you have a quite a unique flair! Keep it up!! ) Sophia C Aviva replies: "Thanks so much for commenting, Amy! If you're going to belong to two sites on the web, they might as well be Elfwood and Writing." | |

| 17 Feb 2003 | Holger ´Mangalore´ Goebber | Your shading is particular nice and you have some neat pictures at start. I guess a general thing you might've already recognized yourself is that your faces and figures are falling apart because you have your different parts not in the same perspective. Don't know but are you drawing them one after the other? You should draw from rough to detailed to ensure that all parts of the picture are fitting to each other. So rough, head shape, then position of eyes, nose and mouth, and then to more determined shadows and lines. Otherwise the shading is nice so I guess it's only a question of time and practice. With 14 you still have lots of time! Hope that might help a bit, there are also great art books concerning anatomy and drawing right. if you can buy one or find it somewhere cheap I guess it would help you greatly. Studies are boring but help tremendously in improving your anatiomy skills. Cya! Sophia C Aviva replies: "Everything you said is very true. I signed up for an art class in August. That means that since the beginning of 9th grade, I'd been spending a hour a day drawing. Looking back at all of the stuff in my gallery, I'm realizing how outdated everything is and, although there is still plenty of room for improvement, how much better I am now than when I posted these. What you said about perspective is definitely true. I didn't really realize it when I first drew these pictures, but I'm realizing it now that I'm looking back. (And yes, I did use to draw body part one at a time.)" | |
| 5 Mar 2003 | Andrea 'Spam' Toney | Me breathless O_o.. *keels* Sophia C Aviva replies: "It's definitely a high compliment hearing that from you. When I look through your gallery, I often feel like I'm entering another world." | |
