SciFi and Fantasy Art A Necromancer Attacks by Phil Chen

He sneaks into the secret catacombs under the temple hoping that the other druids would delay the enemy. He might stand a chance against the necromancer if not for the undead army that was summoned. He can't risk letting the orb fall into the wrong hands either. His task was simple, to get the orb as far away as possible. He hears the sounds of a battle above him... and the sound of footsteps behind him. He begins to turn around, instantly realizing he's made a mistake. Maybe his task is not as simple as he thought...

I drew this pretty quickly, its done in pencils then outlined in black ink. I blurred it in Photoshop LE. I messed up the wizard's face while inking... Comments/Opinions? Hope you like it.

8 Nov 2002	Ilona Hyvättinen	Loading... Some shapes are twisted and the sceleton should have a neck, otherwise a good picture and a good piece of story behind it. But, hm, where did the undear come from? I mean, there's a wall behind them, so they shouldn't be coming straight from there. Maybe they just arose from under the mist? Or, maybe the wall is an illusion and they walked trough it! The picture looks partly cartooney but I guess that can't be avoided when using ink. Phil Chen replies: "The necromancer summoned the undeaD... Even though there's a wall behind them, it doesnt mean there isn't any entrance that I didnt draw. I'm not the most realistic artist... I draw "my" style and it's like a mix of other styles which include cartoon I guess. I have some more "realistic" stuff from art classes but they're not fantasy enough to put up on here. Thanks for the points on the skeleton neck though and I should've put an archway behind them or something. Thanks for the criticism I'll keep this stuff in mind and hope to improve."
11 Nov 2002	Dawn English	Loading... Poor elderly chinese man! I hope he escapes unscathed. I love his expression. The Skele _could_ use a neck, but this way he sorta looks like he's hunching. I like the mist and the concept. The undead zombie guy too. Good stuff. Phil Chen replies: "Don't worry about him, he's about to unleash his special technique, Shaolin Kung-fu enhanced with his magic... anyways I did mean for the skeleton to be hunched over, but there should still be a little neck. It seems like the head is just stuck to his shoulders. Oh yeah, I'm also glad you like the mist, I do it a lot due to my laziness. It's a technique I use to make a pic look complete without having to finish the background... Thanks for the comment Dawn!"

31 Dec 2002	Brad	Loading... Awsome pic this would have to be one of my favs and i like the skel too alot one thing tho . I mean im no good artist and ur alot better then me but the fore arm for the old man is kinda long dont ya thing i dunno maybe just me awsome tho! Phil Chen replies: "you're right! thanx man"

I agree the skeleton should have a bit of a neck when hunched over but it still looks awesome that chinese dudes orb could look a little bit more detailed than a plain ball of white but it does make it have that wierd mysterious magical look to it awesome pic! Phil Chen replies: "Thanks for the comment. Everyone's right about the skeleton's head. "
29 Jul 2003	Ctrl8000	Loading... hey, i'm just wondering...but why does his hand holding the staff have a glove...and the hand holding teh orb don't have a hand!??!? Anywyas....AWSOME picture phil Phil Chen replies: "There is a hand holding the orb, cant you see the fingers? ...and what's wrong with a glove/gauntlet? Thanks for the comment anyways..."
