'The Zebra Griffin, or White Tiger Griffin as it is perhaps more commonly known, is fleet of foot and wing. It not for the Eagle Griffin, which is a combination of the king of the birds, the eagle, and the king of the beasts, the lion, it would be considered to be the king of the Griffins.

As it is, it would have to be 'royalty' at the least, as its very close griffin relative, the Tiger Griffin. The black and white lines of the Zebra Griffin help to break up its appearance in the eyes of some animals, and to diguise is as it sails above the treetops. It has one of the top flight speeds of the Griffin species, and has a running speed almost equal to that of a horse, which can be sustained for a long period of time. This is an unusual characteristic: most griffins rely on their flight as a means of travel.

Some people believe is a peaceful beast, as it rarely attacks people, hardly ever samples meat, and is mostly shy of human contact. But having the untamed temperament of the lion and a bird of prey combined, it is unpredictable, and most likely could never be tamed. As with other Griffins, all attempts to domestic the Zebra Griffin have only brought disaster.

The Zebra or White Tiger Griffin is best left in the wilds, and should be only caught by the human eye.'

Ooh, I can see how his camouflage would work. Ever considered doing a background for this pic? (*imagines all the poor little viewers straining there eies to see it then going Ohh!! There it is!!) Love the patterning on him, its great how you have the lines going in different directions so as to seperate shapes from him, definately a hard thing to do with a duotoned pattern such as striped, but you pulled it off well. Excellent work 2

9 Sophie 'Photosoph' Matthews replies: "*Straining eyes* yeah, I guess he's kind of black, and white... and black and white... and more black and white... *blink*I agree: I think a background would work out really well, but I don't really want to change the original hand-drawn one, but maybe I could do one on photoshop one time... hmm... I'll see about that. Thanks; I was thinking more of a zebra when I did this one, so the stripes are pretty close together. I did it a bit like I do the swirls on wood... kind of.Thank you for stopping by the gallery!"

Nice job with a tough pose! And the pattern makes me think of some of those tiger swallow tail butterflies... Dunno why... It is also kind of hypnotic.. @.@

2 Sophie 'Photosoph' Matthews replies: "I've probably seen a tiger-swallow butterfly around, but I can't remember what it looks like... I'll have to look it up. 2Thanks! I really wanted to draw a flying griffin -I think they'd look so cool in the air. Maybe sometime I'll do another flying one, if I find the time. 12"

I love that pose! Really great!

But, ive thougt about one thing with all of ure griffins! The wings, arn't they too small? They mabey are magical creatures, but i whink longer wings would be proper? =)

2 Sophie 'Photosoph' Matthews replies: "Yeah, you're right... I'll have to make them bigger in further pictures. But sometimes I find it hard to fit longer wings onto the bodies -and usually I model them off normal birds (although not always), who don't need such large wings to fly. But I guess if my griffins had very light bones and muscles, they could still fly if you dropped them off a cliff... >1 *evil grin*"

cool picture. Nice mix of animals, its a comination one doesnt see too often. It must have taken a while to do all those srtipes, but it paid off! When I saw your gallery, this picture caught my eye. Its probably my favourite of yours. Great job!

11 Sophie 'Photosoph' Matthews replies: "Thank you a lot! I like the pose, although I think the wings could be a little better. I was feeling slightly discouraged with it, so thank you so much for your comment. 2"

*nods curtly in Matt's direction* You're right, sir. A different idea. Lovely decription as well, on Ms Matthews' part. The beak does this optical-illusion-type thing next to its left paw. Which is in front of which?

12 Sophie 'Photosoph' Matthews replies: "Thanks! You like the description? Hmm... I was trying to do a griffin encyclopaedia-type thing, but who knows? I might just do that in the Wyvern's library instead. I'm still trying to draw heaps of different types of griffs, but the school year has started -EEEEK!
Ah, ticket with the fluffy kiwi griff is about '1333' in the queueueueueueueueueue. -That word is like bananananana: when do you stop?!
Oh yeah, the left paw... I think it's in front of the beak. Yeah, I see what you mean... it is kind of hard to tell which is in front of which... *stares*."

Wow *blinks with amazement* I love this picture! And it's not because it reminds me of a Hippogriff from Harry Potter, even though it does (sorry... I just finished watching HP), but I love the technique on this picture. I also love the Zebra pattern on the Griffin. One more thing - /wow/

1 Sophie 'Photosoph' Matthews replies: "Thank you so much -no problem about liking him to HP. I'm glad you like this pic! I thought it would be fun to do a zebra griff, instead of a white tiger one, since the stripes are different, and I usually do tiger stripes."
