Ewen was given the ring on the right by his father before he left his home, and after he was reconciled with his father he kept it as a sign of his house. Years later, when he met Rilaisseth, he had the ring on the left made for her, the perfect partner of his. It was originally meant to symbolise his love for her and to give her safe haven in the house of his father should he himself fall in battle but it came to act as her wedding ring. They're silver and garnet.

Pencil, watercolour, printer paper, tacky computer background. Yes, her ring should be waaaay smaller in comparison... one day I'll sort that out. I'm pretty pleased with how these turned out, I don't do much with watercolour, but they look better in the flesh. It was done to illustrate an rp, because my descriptive skills fell short of these unusual items, and is dedicated to Brenna: Ewen's gift to Ril, Ewen's writer's gift to Ril's writer. Ooh, gorgeous watercolors! I love the little shinies on the jewels... this is really well-done (and a cute idea, too.) Love it!

:-) Joanna "nerulean" Piancastelli replies: "*grins* thanks! Sometimes I have really good luck with watercolours (mostly when I'm drawing inanimate objects 12 ) and this was one of them. I don't count myself any good at using them, really."

Great use of watercolour here. You've got the shading just right to get across the curved look of the rings well. The detail of the one on the right I like in particular, with the winding strands over it. Great stuff.

:-) Joanna "nerulean" Piancastelli replies: "Thanks! I think that one turned out better, the reflections on the jewels as well as the knotwork. If I ever have more money than I know what to do with, I will have that ring made. Did I say if? I meant when 12 *dreams on*"

wow-this is watercolor? O__O! Al I can get from watercolor is a giant blot 10
It would be neat to have these crafted one day~they look great.
(and thanks for your comments on my gallery ^_^)

:-) Joanna "nerulean" Piancastelli replies: "Heehee, thanks! On the whole, watercolours and I don't get on too well, but when I try and paint stuff rather than scenes it seems to work. I was always better at drawing things than people ;-)"
