My first picture of a griffan without looking at any pictures, totally out of my head, I was very happy with how it turned out. I sketched it then photoshopped it. (adobe 6.0)

Lovely picture, and good for not using references. I have to say though it looks a little stiff and blocky, perhaps round out some of the angles next time...

:-) Joshua Steven Mersereau replies: "I knew it needed something (other than some work on the rear), but I wasn’t quite sure what, thanks, I’ll remember that next time."

make the lege curve a little more... but other than that, it’s a really good pic!

This was your first attempt I drawing a griffin?! You were certainly going strong before you even got going my friend.

:-) Joshua Steven Mersereau replies: "I’ve been drawing with that amount of detial since I was 12 but it was always from a picture, never from my head. These pictures that you see on this website don’t even compare with the drawings that I get references from."

Even with that knowledge, your work defies description. You may have referenced your work from other works of art, but they have gone on to take on a life of their own to which you empowered them with.

:-) Joshua Steven Mersereau replies: "I usually draw from photographs. I love wildlife photography, I’d like to sometime in the future go to Brazil and take some pictures there. There’s soooo much to capture on film there it’s unbelievable! "

I wish you the best in that desire; for indeed I had a friend who visited Brazil once, and he told me some incredible things that he saw.

Wow this is great! I love the detail in the feathers (:

:-) Joshua Steven Mersereau replies: "Thank you. It takes time but in the end, it’s worth it."

Good detail in the wings

:-) Joshua Steven Mersereau replies: "thank you Amy. I like your "smiley""

Love the deatil. The claws are awesome. I attempted to draw a gryphon, but it looks a little odd.

:-) Joshua Steven Mersereau replies: "How so?"
11 Mar 2010:-) Rebekah Lynn Plowman
Well, for one the claws on mine are angled funny. (I drew the front claws angled up on accadent) And the wings are a little odd looking. I uploaded it and it got published, if you want to see it.
