| 7 Apr 2004 | Julie (The Grinning Wolf) Hudson | I love your stuff! It is so fun! My favorite is the little brown alien though! He is so cute! Keep up the good work, I'm sure I'll see your stuff out there sooner or later! | |
| 2 Jun 2004 | Nicole Gutierrez | With cartooning skill like that it seems like your work belongs in a newspaper or something. Either way cartoons are very cool. Ruth Emma Latchford replies: "Thanks so much I'm working on a couple of projects at the moment which I hope will lead to bigger & better things!" | |
| 15 Jun 2004 | Sophia M. Larsen | As you seemed interested in seeing a colored version, I'm going to give you a link to my newly-uploaded Meirian. http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/t/u/tuom/meirian_color.jpg.html Der.. yep. Ruth Emma Latchford replies: "Yours excellent pic has been duly commented on " | |
| 16 Jun 2004 | Emília 'Millie' Eidelwein | Awwww...your work as cartunist is amazing, Ruth! And I think is a wonderful thing to work with children too! Ruth Emma Latchford replies: "Thankyou & yes, working with children can be great...unfortunately I've managed to catch a rather nasty bug from my kids which curbs my enthusiasm at present!" | |
| 4 Aug 2004 | Oliver Jöhnk | I agree with the others, you show some very good pictures. Your talent and creativity are obvious. I hope you will show much more of your work in the woods. Ruth Emma Latchford replies: "I plan to update just as soon as the mods come back from holiday " | |
| 27 Dec 2004 | John Smith | hello neighbor. you have such a pretty face. It looks like ur saying, "Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!' Ruth Emma Latchford replies: "Nope...just laughing & showing off my ridiculous teeth..." | |
| 1 Jan 2005 | Tunisia *Spooky SockGoblin* Dorionne | Um . . . I love your stuff. I do comic art too, though I'm trying to get my stuff into a comic book form (not just as kid's art). Your little characters are great; it's wonderful to see some kid's art that isn't all teddy bears and fluffy kittens. The little alien rocks! Er . . . both little aliens rock. I checked out your fanart, too. Love how you drew Hermione and Harry, and Sirius looks just like he's supposed to. The only advice I can give you is to try to create scenes with your characters, instead of just a character standing in the middle of a page. Maybe even comics. Ruth Emma Latchford replies: "I agree the majority of the work I submit don't have backgrounds the main reason for which is a combination of laziness & being able to transpose images onto any background I like. These pics are really characters being showcased rather than from anything that requires a background. I'll have to post up some things I've done for other projects! Thanks for popping by " | |
| 27 Apr 2005 | Jenny | Ruth, I like your art work it is unique and fun. I was wondering if you could give me some advise about how to start out as a freelance artist. I am interested in getting my drawings printed on t-shirts, mugs, bag etc. How much investment should i figure to get started and how do i find the right printing company. Any advise would be awesome, thanks and good luck with your own work. Ruth Emma Latchford replies: "Personally I think it's damned difficult...if you're looking to start small I'd suggest checking out www.cafepress.com who basically sell all sorts of printed items including t-shirts & the other things you mentioned, with your artwork on. You don't have to pay a thing & anything that does sell you get a commission on. I've not had the time to really push myself forward however, most of my commissions coming from personal contacts. However, if you want to sell your artwork on t-shirts (for instance) I'd recommend making a very short print-run & testing the market. For instance, seeing how they sell on eBay? The right printing company at first will simply be the cheapest, nearest & most convenient! I haven't actually sold any of my artwork by doing that...but that's because I have no motivation whatsoever. If you *do* have motivation then that'll hold you in good stead!Good luck!" | |
| 21 Sep 2005 | Thomas H. Saxon | The Alien Bandido is a character that needs development and continuation, its just such a cute & catchy image... I confess, I'm sorely tempted by plagiarism... Ruth Emma Latchford replies: "You'd better not! He'll zap you or something huge, huge compliment that though." | |
