This is the protagonist from the ever-work-in-progress story that I 'm working on.

He is half elfin and an acrobat by trade. He gets involved rather accidentally in a wizard's plot when he attempts to save an elf from a gang of what he thinks are robbers.
He can see in the dark up to a certain degree of blackness, and he is slightly telepathic.

He was named after his maternal grandfather,to honour his memory. His father, an elf ,is a skilled swordsmaker and constructed all of his weapons. Most notable are the triple bladed shuriken or "skyblades" as they are nicknamed.

He's also a strong swimmer and a hell of a cook. And he likes dogs. He is also left-handed.

Martin Skyblade is not exactly a new character; he was created twenty five years ago. He evolved from a "swordfighting preppy" to a character that has been very "Asianized". He was also too good for his own good. A proper history and background was written for him, and he lost his Boy Scout image. However...Martin is not an angst -filled-I-don't-fit- in-anywhere-chosen-one-I-hate-the-world type. He's a pretty normal fellow that you'd hang at a pub with (and be safe around if any fights erupt).

He is physically  based (loosely) on a real person, the only character in the story who is. He's been a little challenging to draw only because in order to get his features right I had to figure out what a full blooded elf on this world looked like...and I haven't done that yet!

Also, this picture technically would have been done after the story; when he starts out on the journey,he doesn't have the scars on his neck.

Great drawing! His face and hair looks awesome, I especially like the eyebrows. 1

:-) Trish Harold replies: "Thank you so much,Johanna.
He’s my fave, and those eyes of his drive me crazy sometimes, I swear. His eyebrows, believe it or not was by accident. Now that I’ve seen them, I have to make a point of keeping them that way. If I can remember what I did..."

I like his outfit and the whole blurb on your story sounds really interesting. Do you ever think of publishing it here?

:-) Trish Harold replies: "Thank you very much Annie! Yes I am thinking about submitting chapters 1 and 2. But, as I told Lynn Purple Dragoness, they are stuck on another computer and I am having a challenge retrieving them! I’ll let folks know when they are up!"

About the scars on his neck! Now that you have the picture in digital (to get it here you had to) you could aways go in with a paint program and remove the scars.

Oh... I LOVE the shine effect off the metal of the star and sword.

:-) Trish Harold replies: "Thank you Scot! This is the first time I have given him weapons.I think they are like accessories...they complete a character.
I don’t mind leaving the scars, as this was more of a concept picture. However, since I have "Paint" on my laptop, I might just give it a try!"

For not knowing how a full blooded elf looks like you did an amazing job. I love the history of the character; it makes him seem more life-like and familiar.

:-) Trish Harold replies: "Thank you for the wonderful comment Jennifer! That means a lot. He has a detailed backstory, and many of the characters do.Martin’s happens to be longer since he’s the protagonist in the story. But if he seems familiar and life-like, than I must be doing something right!"

Cool story, awsome caracter design and pic!!! 1 I like the shades and the sparkling effects!!! 1

:-) Trish Harold replies: "Thank you very much,Danny. I ’m working on getting the full story up here.
He’s my favourite character, because he’s made up of so many people that mean a lot to me!"

Once again, a neat introduction! I really loved Martin Skyblade, his strong and firm stance, his confident face expression, and the way he’s holding his sword... well it’s like he was born to do it! Well done! Oh! And that’s a quite decent shading work as well 18

:-) Trish Harold replies: "Pretty, close. He wasn’t born to do it, but he got training at the age of nine. His dad’s a swordsmaker and a darn good one ,so that helps!
Thank you for the wonderful comment Yoni. This character is made up of a lot of people who have had an impact in my life, but his personality is made up a lot of my husband’s traits!
Thank you for visiting and I appreciate it very much!"

Great pose. But I like the subtle shadow directly behind him. Gives an interesting quality to the lighting in the drawing.

:-) Trish Harold replies: "An artist friend tell me about smudging pencils. I got some and redid the wall and behind the character as well as his clothing, and I really liked the effects the second time around. Much better.
Thank you for your wonderful comments, I sure appreciate them coming from accomplished artists such as yourself.

Man you can just see how ready he is to save the elf!!1

:-) Trish Harold replies: "It is recommended never to sneak up on Martin. He is quite alert, and may not react the way you want him to.
Thank you for commenting and visiting!"

nicely drawn. Very good. Love the shading.

:-) Trish Harold replies: "Thank you very much!
The pic was redone with smudging pencils. It made a world of difference from what i had before."

cool! I want to see what your elves look like now!

:-) Trish Harold replies: "I have another drawing that I’m working on that has this fellow and his two buddies that are full blooded elves in it.
When I’ve got it done, I’m going to be postin that one a nd a couple of others. I’m so picky though....I don’t know when that will be exactly!"
