'Terrible was his southward journey. Sheer were the precipices of Ered Gorgoroth, and beneath their feet were shadows that were laid before the rising of the Moon. Beyond lay the wilderness of Dungortheb, where the sorcery of Sauron and the power of Melian came together, and horror and madness walked. There spiders of the fell race of Ungoliant abode, spinning their unseen webs in which all living things were snared; and monsters wandered there that were born in the long dark before the Sun, hunting silently with many eyes. No food for Elves and Men was there in that haunted land, but death only. That journey is not accounted least among the great deeds of Beren, but he spoke of it to no one after, lest the horror return into his mind; and none know how he found a way, and so came by paths that no Man nor Elf else ever dared to tread to the borders of Doriath.'

This awesome.......very well drawn rocks and you captured a sense of depth and height within the cliffsThanks a lot, it's great to read that some depth has been achieved. I'm always conscious about improvement in this area.

This is excellent man. You've managed to capture the whole atmosphere you describe. You really have a gift at drawing scenery. I like the detail on Beren as well. You keep getting better with every pic I swear. Thanks a lot. I hope so, anyway 2.

I love your depth of colour here. It's very difficult to make huge expanses of rock look interesting, yet you pulled it off excellently. Also, nice blueing on the rocks in the background-it really makes it recede. Getting the detail right on Beren must have been very difficult (what size brush did you use? 1 But my absolutely favourite bit is the rock surrounded by mist in the foreground. Thanks a lot for the comment. You're right, rocks are not generally perceived to be the most interesting of subject matters. Done well, however, and they can be very fun and rewarding to paint. Indeed, Beren was a pain to paint -- I had to use a tiny brush with an extremely fine tip, especially for his face. And even then, I am not quite happy with the detail that has resulted from it.

You've portrayed the evilness of Ered Gorgoroth quite well, here. I twould've been even cooler if there was a bit of webbing here and there...Awesome artwork, buddy! Thanks a lot. Since this image depicts almost the peaks of Ered Gorgoroth, and not the foot of the mountain range, I imagine that there wouldn't be much webbing as of yet.

I want to put this pic in a tour I'm making about Beren and Luthien, if you don't want it to be in a tour or if you have any questions please contact me.I have no objection to that at all. Thank you very much. If you would, I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me when the tour is up and running 2.
