Oh, just on thing though (forgive me for the nitpicking) - wasn't Earendil supposed to be dark-haired, actually?Well, it's never explicitely stated. But his father, Tuor, had the typical golden-hair of the House of Hador. And his mother Idril, though of the Noldor, retained the golden-hair of her Vanyarin great-grandmother, Indis the Fair. So I imagine he would have had golden-hair as well.

It is a beautiful portrayal of Earendil, the best one I have found so far. And it is nice to find an artist who remembers that Earendil had golden hair. *bows and hugs**who bows in return*

i completely agree - earendil cannot, would not, should not ever have a beard. not with his heritage.
the water is fantastic! i can't draw waves for the life of me. did you use a photo? the colors captured in the sunlight are unbelievable. have you ever read c. s. lewis's The Voyage of the Dawn Treader? (Narnia is mother's milk to me. well, that and copious amounts of cookie dough!)in the first chapter, lucy is in the room that she is staying in at her cousin eustace's house, and admires a painting on the wall of a ship. "... and the water looks as if it were really wet. And the waves look as if they were really going up and down." that quote immediately popped into my head when i saw this pic. absolutely lovely. i also like earendil's hair. nice colors.
however, i have issues with the seagull. i'm so sorry darling, i in no way intend to impugn your work, but the way the bird is placed (or rather, the where of it) is distracting. it draws all of my attention to the left side of your drawing, detracting from the sea. he is rather cute though.

This is so beautiful. I really love the lay of Earendil the Mariner and I think you have really captured the picture...I can imagine the ship on the tossing waves and spray of saltwater...I love the sea and grew up by it. Yes, the waves are amazing! I just got that feeling in my legs, which I'm familiar with since I was on the sea for the first time - the way you have to keep balance... The waves look exactly as I remember them. And I also love his hair!I'm glad you like this piece, it was nice to paint and of course a bit different since the sea was involved. Thank you.
