'The day's march promised to be warm and tiring work. After some miles, however, the road ceased to roll up and down: it climbed to the top of a steep bank in a weary zig-zagging sort of way, and then prepared to go down for the last time. In front of them they saw the lower lands dotted with small clumps of trees that melted away in the distance to a brown woodland haze. They were looking across the Woody End towards the Brandywine River. The road wound away before them like a piece of string.'

Not that the others haven`t said that but here it is:
A very calm and nostalgic picture, wonderful colours, it`s like the sunset of their happy and unburdened days - the night is to come with terrors unseen and fears untamed, the night is to come and stay for too long... But it`s still daytime, the light blessing the land with colours of/and warmth.
That`s how I kinda feel looking at it. And to read that this is what you feel as you look at the picture is certainly rewarding. Thanks so much for leaving a comment such as this.

It is so amazing how you can read the book and draw out the images... I think that they were waiting for you 2Ah, but Tolkien does have this effect on you does it not?!

The Shire has to be my favourite place in JRRT's Middle Earth. Its...reassuring. I was SO angry at the end when they ruined it, then ecstatic when Sam fixed it. Yay! Whenever I'm down in the dumps I flick black to that part in the book. Now I can look at this picture!! Thank You!Well I'm glad that this picture holds some meaning for you. Thank you!

I promised to myself that I wouldn't comment to this, because it has so many comments, but I can't help myself. I like the light. It is THAT golden light, which doesn't appear so often outdoors and which I like. And the shadows are also great. So, it apparently deserves those comments1
(I have my own gallery finally, but my pictures aren't so good...it will take them lots of time to be so good.)Thank you once again for a lovely comment. I'll try visit your gallery soon, in the meantime keep practicing! It truly is the only thing that can help one improve.

Your work is outstanding among Middle-earth artists. So often your pictures capture exactly the feeling from the passage of the book. An animated film in the look you have created would probably be better visually than anything else I have seen.
