| 2 Mar 2004 | Jennie Seay | Hey Cassidy, I've looked through your work and you're definitely headed in the right direction. For now, try getting away from the computer coloring and focus on your sketching and anatomy skills. Right now, you'll have much better luck controlling a pencil rather than a mouse, and and you can always come back to the computer later. I can tell you've already got a good idea of what you'd like to draw, and your sense of anatomy just needs a bit of fine tuning. Sketching a lot will help. Perhaps pick a favorite animal and study a lot of photos and any moving footage you can find. This will help you add believable realism to your work, and after you've become familiar with one animal, it's much easier to learn others and to make up fantasy variants. Once you start building up some decent sketches, try adding some shading. You'll learn a lot if you try to shade things instead of color them. I can tell you've got a lot of creativity (I have not seen a Giragon in the Woods before). Best of luck with your future work. Cassidy K. R. Fifielski replies: " Thanks for the advice. I started drawing lessons a couple weeks ago, and my teacher is just teaching me to sketch animals. I've been doing it for about a week and I've gotten better than when I started... I think. But I definetly need to work on my shading. Again Thanks." | |
