SciFi and Fantasy Art Alien: Pater Patronus by Rachael Mayo

This is an original character for the Aliens universe, based on the Aliens movies and comics.

DeviantArt buddy greatgreeniguana has been incredibly patient with me. This is her kiriban for capturing my 20k pageview at DA.

The beastie featured here is not an Alien Queen, but an Emperor of GGI's own design.

The color job gave me fits this time. I'm not sure how I went wrong - probably by starting with the grays on the Emperor, rather than the color in the background. I had to go back and forth with the Emperor's cool grays several times to get the value distribution to balance out properly, and when I finished with it, I still wasn't really satisfied. I did some tweaking in Photoshop to balance out the purples and blues in the background, and to bring in more green/yellow on the Emperor to pull him out of the background. That saved it, I hope.

I still like the linework quite a bit in and of itself. Looks cleaner. ^_~
