This is an original character developed for the Predator universe as depicted in the Predator movies and comics. Hats-off also to the movie-version of Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring for the Uruk'hai armor inspiration.

I loved the Uruk'hai armor and I thought that it would translate very well to a Predator's muscular frame.

I KNOW the bow is a little off... This is my first attempt at an accurate archery pose and grip. Besides... How many Predator archers have we ever seen? May I fudge just a little? ^_^

I also don't do a lot of detailed backgrounds like this, so I found the landscape (an amalgam of various nice spots in Colorado and Utah) both challenging and enjoyable.

I drew this with my Zig inking pens, and it took close to 30 hours to complete. I worked on it almost exclusively over my lunch periods at work.

I like the eyes. They seem softer than from the movies. ^^

*drops dead in awe* OMG that is absolutely breath-taking!!!! Props to you for the whole thing!! I for one have a patience issue and would not have spent near as long as that on a picture, nor have anywhere NEAR these results even if I did! WOW greatness!!!!

Dang, this is amazing work. I really love the background and the character, and the bow? It fits perfectly! I think that if predators had bows, that's how they would look. =)

OKAY Get a job in comics! Get a job doing sci-fi/fantasy book covers-but do something! You are too good! p.s-please don't color this one! It's great as it is.

Wow. The sketch must have been messy, but this is BEAUTIFUL. PLEASE, try something like this with a human. It will look great.

Wow...awesome detail....i would think it would take longer than 30 hours?

:-) Rachael Mayo replies: "That’s a very loosely approximate thirty hours, and there may have been a few minutes I spent on it at home here and there, particularly toward the end when I was doing some finishing touches."

the armour looks more lime your own creation than the uruk’s, its stunning and the background is great

Urak’hai armor on a Yautja-drooool

:-) Rachael Mayo replies: "That’s exactly what I was thinking. The uruk’hai have the same build as Predators, so it seemed a natural transition."

The arrow is on the wrong side of the bow. not to worry, thats a artistic mistake that has be historcally repeated since the invention of the bow. to understand it correctly, if you hold the bow horizontally with your knuckles up to load an arrow, you’d want to place the arrow on top the of the bow to hold up, the way you have depicted it, it would end up being on the bottom of the bow shaft, thus it would fall to the ground and make loading arrows very difficult. and sighting down the arrow would also be difficult. you want the arrow to be on the same side as your head.
But aside from that minor error, it really a very well done piece.
